I was looking for some advise on what to do with my rotten taco. It has a rebuilt title so it is not eligible for the buyback. I love the truck but it is the "worst case of frame rot" the dealer that i went to has seen. I don't know how to put the pics directly on the post but i put an attachment on here(hopefully). What i am planning on doing is either cutting the rust holes out and plating the entire side of the frame that is rusted with some metal about the same thickness or a little bigger, that is the plan if i am going to keep it. The other option is to just fix the visible stuff on the frame and make it look like it was never there and pass it off the next poor fool. There is nothing wrong with the rest of the truck and it runs perfect, i just don't know if i will ever escape the rust on this truck! Does anybody have any opinions on if the surgery will work or if its just gonna keep rusting and eventually be worthless. Thanx

yes i have thought about the frame replacement, is it worth the work? I know i shoulnt pass it to the next person but it is hard not to when it is a $5000 door stop with a rotten frame, ya know what i'm sayin?

They told me I was S.O.L. on any compensation b/c of the rebuilt title(even though the truck has been fixed any works perfect) I can't afford a new one, and i don't really like the gen 2 anyway.

As an ex-owner of a Land Rover 90 (aka Defender) that used to get seriously abused offroad I thought I knew about rusty frames. You have taken it to a whole new level. Man, that's bad.

You can plate it for sure, but good luck trying to find some decent metal to weld to. I'm with the others ^^ - see if Toyota will at least help you out a bit.
