BTW, if you put an IR filter on your lights, you can run them all the time and blind police lidar.

Everything Kevin from ATO did on his... and then some. LOL

LOL, I did this by accident! I have the VisionX 6" HID and love them, but I hit the switch with my knee and wasn't paying attention and he spun around and pulled me over and had a nice talk about my truck, and then I turned on all my lights and he was like holy shit! LOL I have RIGID dually's as back up light and he loved those. He just let me go and told me to keep them off in town.

Here is a pic of mine, I would recommend both, I want to get a LED light bar for the front.... one day.

High speed is where you need the distance lights. If you want light in front of you for approaches, get the flood pattern LED's.

Also disgree about the comments regarding highway use. I use my off road lights on the road. If you're driving back roads and no one is around, go for it, make sure you don't get surprised by a dear.

Yeah. i think the only way i can get distance and good coverage, is if i get a big Rigid E series light bar. but i dont want to drop a grand on lights! im thinking maybe a 10" light bar and 2 offroad lights. this should keep me covered.

    still interested in more input!

that is not my attitude. in fact i didnt say that at all. somethings as harmless as lights? as long as you're courteous and not blinding other drivers, the police couldnt care less if your lights are as bright as the sun. And thats what i plan on having :D

If you are looking for "legal" lighting, I recommend running Baja Designs HID 4" fuegos (wide cornering beam) as your fog lights in your bumper. It is 100% legal and provides excellent on road/ off road lighting without blinding the cars in front of you or coming at you in the opposite direction. And you can run them all the time... even in the city!

I agree with this. Keep your lights connected to your high beam switch so they all turn off at once. I have a two-way switch on my dash. Flip one way, the lights are just on. Flip the other way, they only come on with the high beams. Works great.

I had Lightforce 240's. They have a Maglite style beam (even with combo covers). They are really only useful for very long range vision at high speed. Not useful for curvy roads or general low-speed off-road light. Fantastic for 70MPH on a long, strait and dark stretch of road.

However, for all other purposes, Osram 70/65W bulbs in my factory headlight housings out-classed the Ligthforces.

Is there a significant cutoff in these lights so they don't hit other motorists? I haven't seen too many that do.

Check out the Blazer lights at The Retrofit Source. They have a good HID fog light with a clean cutoff and a wide pattern. A few of us have retrofitted them into the stock fog light housing.

Yeah, the Blazers do, but they are a fog-pattern light. I don't know that a cornering beam would (as in the Fuegos).

The Fuego is a short distance, wide beam pattern, very similar to a fog light pattern. The only reason the Blazers have a wide and low pattern is because of the cutoff. If that shield were removed, they'd be just as wide and throw light further out.

The Fuegos are also $320/ea... for that kind of money I wouldn't say they're the best option available.

Yeah, but if you removed the cutoff, I don't think you could use them in traffic. That is all I was saying. I'm not aware of any auxiliary low beams really out there. There are things you can use, like Hella lighting modules and stuff.

He lives in Alberta. 90% of our roads are straight highways that you can watch the road go over the curvature of the earth. And there's times where at night you can go over an hour without seeing anyone.

^I drive to BC a lot too. Driving those curvy roads at night can be treacherous.

Also... I just ordered a demello 3 hoop to mount these lights on!!! :D:D:D

this should fuck deer pretty hard:

here is it with thought on light placement
    [IMG]
we;ll see how much room ive got then i get the bumper. i want the bumper to stick out furter than the lights of course. i may have the get smaller offroad lights, with HID. lots of bang for the buck.

and arb is widely used, i like them but am looking or a slightly more unique design!
