This wasnt anything that was remotely hard, or time consuming. But hopefully someone can get an idea or something from it. My truck didnt come with a rubber mat, and since I got the shell, I have wanted to do something to make it more cozy back there. Also if I need to get on the binders hard, I can hear the dogs sliding around back there, this should give them some traction.
I got the rug from home depot, its thinner than I wanted and I might put some type of pad under it in the future. The hardware I just got at the hardware store. Theyre 1/4"x1" bolts with fender washers and wingnuts. I have since put lock washers too. The velcro I used one the rear by the tie down hooks is the rough surface stuff I also got at home depot. This stuff is bad ass. It sticks to everything. Total I have about $20 into this, so if it doesnt work out, I'm not out that much. I left the front long just to see if I liked it. But I dont, I just havent cut it off yet. Here's the pics, lame I know.

Looks good! You might want to remove it when it rains though, I have one similar on my patio and a ton of water gets trapped underneath.

    Edit: nm, you have shell.

    Cute dog btw!

Water can still get in at the top corners of the tailgate even with a shell.

And OP, have you thought about going up the sides too?

I thought about it, but I didnt really see any benefit to it, for me anyway. I think the real bedrugs look goofy too. I'll keep an eye on it next time I drive in the rain. It parks in the garage at night, so the 8" of snow we got last night had no effect.

Good call, I used a carpet remnant that I had leftover from a carpet upgrade in the house that I used for a year or so. I've since upgraded to a bedmat, and do like it better, but the carpet worked great for the time I had it and the price was definitely right.

BTW, I used some carpet on my last truck, with an eXtang bed cover for 6 years with no water issues, same with the Tacoma, bed cover/carpet with no leakage problems.

My Leer shell doesn't let any water in. I think mainly because it overlaps the bed rails forming a "drip edge" similar to what you would find on a roof of a building.

My crappy "New Vision" top on my 2000 taco is tight too. No water--ever--but I bought great RV quality gasket material, sealed the windows well, and replaced the crappy tailgate flap that was worthless.

Great job OP. May try that myself.

Pupped my ride - Dog bench, Black stock rims, Tail Gate antitheft mod, Bed storage and sleeping platform, Action Cap w/Yakima rack and Rola basket, Seatbelt chime off, Tentasaurus
I did pretty much the same, and have since added these underneath the carpet, very little trimming required. Need 2 packs for full coverage, with some leftover for the dog bench in the AC cab.
    Nice work, BTW!

How much do these run per pack? Does it cover the entire bed floor?

Update on this. The carpet material is still in good shape. The velcro in the back has since become not so sticky. But the rear tie downs hold it in place good enough. The only time I have to adjust it, is if I slide something heavy in, or the dogs come in too hot(much more common). Other than being super dusty underneath it, and collecting all the dog hair, I'm really happy with it. If I remember later I'll take a pic of it.
