How much weight can the tie downs support?

Say there is a load of 350 pounds distributed to all 4 tie downs. Will they be able to handle it or will shit start bending?

yeah i'ld say u'll be fine too, just if ur using rachet straps, dont over do it with them, thats when u'll start bending crap, ild think! just make them all taunt!

 

I'm not thinking of ratchet straps....I'm thinking of making a "hammock" for my truck.

get some kind of outdoor fabric with 550 paracord along each edge. Each corner will then be attached to a carabeaner and then hooked into the corners.

Hmmm hammock will be interesting. Those tie downs are for load holding not lifting. Essentially you will be using them for lifting. The moment placed on each tie down will be more like 200# each in a fashion they were never meant to act in. Should still work but watch closely the first time you use it.

anyway, i see what you're saying about the tie downs are only really ment to handle loads in 2D, not 3D. If each support is designed to have a tensile strength of 200 pounds in two directions, I'd guess that they can handle 100 pounds in three directions.

I guess I'll find out if this is true if I end up making it though haha!
