Got hit today while parked, guy left info but doesn't want to involve insurance because it would just raise his deductible. my parents will kill me if they find out so I will try to fix it on my own tomorrow. so angry and bummed about my truck :(

Why are you hiding it from your parents?

I'd let the insurance companies do what you pay them to do and have your truck fixed.

Involve your insurance, that's why you have it. Too bad for the other guys deductible, maybe he won't run into parked cars anymore.

    Yes.
You shouldn't have to hide it from your parents...you didn't do anything wrong. At least the guy left info...

they always tell me to be careful where i park, I am pretty sure they would be mad, its my dads truck technically. If it gets complicated to fix I will tell them but hopefully it is not too difficult.

is it too late to involve insurance if i left the parking lot? the guy goes to my school and is going with me to the body shop tomorrow and says he will pay. he says he hit another car earlier this week thats why he doesnt want to use insurance.

    Yes.
Yeah, the guy should only be allowed a bicycle if he is that incapable of parking. It isn't too late to contact your insurance. I guess it depends if he follows through on the body shop agreement...

They always say "I'll just pay for it" until they see the bill. By that time you've already waited 1-2 weeks for him to return your calls and it might be to late to get the insurance\cops involved

With my insurance I have 24 hours to report the incident. After that- shit out of luck. They will ask to see the damage and make an estimate for repairs. After that you are free to go to a repair shop they recommend or fix it yourself using his dime. Short answer is report it and then get an estimate to see if he will pay. That way you are not on the hook.

doesn't look like the paint is scratched, if not it's perfect for
one of those paintless dent repair people... probably
won't cost more than a couple hundred bucks

The metal is creased. It is going to need bondo and paint or replace the fender and paint.

you can park 5 spaces from everyone and still get hit.
Take some very strong advise. REPORT IT NOW!!!! I did the same thing as you a long time ago. Trying to be nice, yada yada. I never got a cent from the guy.

It's not your fault. The only way not to get hit is to keep it parked in the garage. I think you may not give your parents enough credit. You need to tell them.

I understand you feel bad for the guy, But it doesn't matter if it was Mother Teresa, If you hit my truck I'm getting your insurance involved. I've never been given a break for anything that I've done, and I've seen lots of people do stupid crap and get off scott free.

But I don't know what the statue of limitations are but since you left I don't think you could do anything with the law or insurance. Maybe if you show them the note. Did he sign on the note? I guess just hope he has the balls to pay.

This is why we have insurance, in case shit happens. Shit happened so take it to his insurance. He was the one that was at fault, not you. That's his problem if his rates go up. If he didn't wants his rates to go up then he or she would be a better driver and pay attention.

A few years ago someone hit my car while I was at work. They knew they hit my car because my car alarm went off. I came out at the end of the day and noticed my bumper was pushed. We checked the cameras and we could only see what colour and how many doors were on the car. The person heard my alarm go off and moved their car so they wouldn't get in trouble. Work wasn't too obliged to help of course. So, to you OP, get his insurance to pay. There is no reason to hide it, it wasn't done by you.

Involve insurance 100%!!! Stuff happens, at least you were parked and had no control over it. Too much risk in getting screwed over and left with a large bill...
