loud vooming noise

I got a 2007, TRD sport, auto.
When I drove it right between 90km to 110km it makes a loud vooo noise (feels like from drive train)
No vibration and tires are balanced.​

Any ideas?​

Probably want to include whether you have a 4wd or Prerunner.

 

For the SAE-inclined folk, that's 55-68 mph.

Does it change when you turn, as the vehicle's weight shifts? If you have 4WD, does it go away in 4WD (don't engage it over 60 mph/100kph or so though)? Does it change depending on what gear the transmission is in? Does it change with wind direction? If you have 4WD, have your u-joints been greased over the years? How's your fluid levels, namely differentials and transfer case if applicable? What tires does it have, how worn are they, and how much pressure is in them?

Methinks that should cover first base or so in the diagnostics game

 

Do you have a lift? What work has been done since before the noise? On first guess, it's a vibe from an improper driveshaft angle. Carrier bearing would be my second guess, but without more info, it's just a guess.
Ujoints that are going bad make a squeaking noise that can be heard at low speeds. Rotational slop in the driveshaft can be another indication of bad ujoints.

 

its a 07 TRD Sport, 4 dr, 4WD, and auto
no lift, stock with good tires and about 190,000 km on it.

Just took it to a shop they couldn't find anything visual but they remember exact same complain was recalled from Toyota for rear differential issue. Apparently Toyota used to replace the diff and add some kind of sound proof pad somewhere in the assembely... however, it was only warrantied for tacos with less than 60,000km.

So I guess that could be it

My first guess was bearing (but usually makes sound in any speed), and driveshaft will cause a vibration (it doesn't vidrate)

I bought it a few months ago and it has been same since.. its getting a bit louder now

 

Sounds like mine did until Toyota replaced both rear wheel bearings a couple weeks ago. Hard to tell where the sound is coming from when you are driving around but they diagnosed it pretty quickly. They first thought it was only one but ended up doing both. I think they have been seeing a rash of these so know where to look first.

 

Wheel bearings usually squeal or grind when they start going. They also have play in them which can be moved by hand.
Pinion and ring gear noises are normally not speed dependant. If the backlash is off, it will make noise on accel, decel, neutral, depending on which way it is off.
I would have to take it for a drive and hear the noise to help much more:/

 

No sqealing or turn dependent noise changes with my rear bearings failures. No noticeable play either... maybe they would get that if you let it go too far. These sorts of symtoms would be more typical of front wheel bearing failure than rear. At the stage of my problem alls I had was speed dependent cyclical low freq noise that was progressively getting worse over time.

The noise is consistent through turns and acc, dec..
Its loudest at 90 km. It could be wheel bearing since it has 180000 km on it.​
