Damn bro you sure do play musical cars! :D

I'd keep the STI. You already got that man red interior runner to play in the woods with.

    The numbers are about right.

2004 STi with 78K Miles, Excellent Trade-In Value is $14,795

    2000 4Runner with 150K Miles, Excellent Retail is $9,780.

They have all the maintenance records. I've seen those trucks roll to 400K without issue. The numbers seem to be in my favor. Except that I'm getting a high mileage rig.

    V6, 4Motion, 6 speed, leather, 250HP... I had it up to 140mph a few times...

You're in a better place. R32's need some serious power upgrades to be considered true performance cars. They're too heavy for the power they make. Barely faster than a stock GTI...

Yes I would. I told him no deal. I would miss my 340HP/380TQ. :D

Plus, I just can't stomach paying $9K for ANY vehicle that has 150K of life on it. Regardless of make/model. It's like picking up a dirty hooker.

Sorry, but I would still take an R32 over an STI in a heartbeat...

True, adding a Turbo to one of those V6's can get you 400-450 HP though...

I'm not playing brand preference. I'm stating a fact. If it was an HPA R32, yes I would take that. 0-60 in 3.1

    Cant reliably boost an R32

Now you can run 18+ PSI outta a GTI for 100k easily.

That's true too. But if you've got the $50K or whatever that HPA wants for that kit, you've got the money to maintain it.

I thought they did "ok" on ice. Not as good as a dedicated winter tire like the blizzak or something, but I don't worry about the wifey driving on ice with them at all. Awesome in mud, they clean out well but they aren't swampers. They did great in the desert rocks, haven't had them on anything too gnarly as it's a disco truck. They wear very well, and for a DD that sees the woods on the weekend you would be hard pressed to find a better tire. The aren't cheap though, the chevy has 295/65R20 at $370 a piece.

$50,000 might be a bit of an exaggeration don't you think?

And I don't consider any turbo to be reliable, that is not what they are built for. They are built for performance, and any high performance vehicle is going to require a lot of maintenance.

To say that one brand turbo's less reliably than another is silly. It is all about the quality of the components used and the quality of the software and the install.

VW uses that 2.8/3.2 motor in lots of cars and it was offered with a twin turbo in the old allroad's.. It is currently offered as a 3.3 or 3.4L in the new Audi's, and it may be available in a turbo configuration stock, from Audi also, i'm not sure about that though.

I would not consider a brand new stock Audi turbo to be "unreliable."

I'd consider any Audi to be completely unreliable as they're built like crap, especially their transmissions. Just say'n.

But also, "to say that one brand turbo's less reliably than another is silly" makes no sense either, because it's not true. You even confirmed it in your next sentence. The parts, tolerances, cooling pathways, wastegate selection, ect... all play into it. That's like saying harbor freights tools are just as reliable as SnapON... They're both tools, but different brands so they must be the same in quality/reliability.

Sorry there's my interweb rant for the day.

I know this is getting off topic, but you think this would be un reliable and built like crap then?

Yup, and slow for that matter. That R8 barely pulled on my G35, which was WAYYYYY cheaper lol. Everyone I've ever known that's had an Audi absolutely hates them, they always get major repairs under 80k on the odo.

0-60 is 4.4 seconds... 4.0 if you get the bigger 5.2L.

I agree though, for the money, there are a lot of cars out there that are pretty fast, and you don't have to spend 100K.

My old R32 was 5.8 seconds 0-60, and it wasn't even a turbo.

Yup. Or even drop in some larger turbos on a 3000GT VR-4. Any of them are sweeter and funner.

I dunno why anyone would buy an R8 when that's well over GT-R money, which destroys the R8 on every single aspect.

Yes, the GT-R is an awesome car for sure.
