Need advice on adjusting king c.o.

Ive tried adjusting my c.o.'s wity no luck which sucks when you take them off the truck and can't adjust them. I put the base in the vice like the instructions say but the whole body and coil turn now besides the base. What did you use to hold the top without scratching it up?

 

You should be able to adjust them on the truck, just remove the wheel if clearance is tight and don't adjust with the spring supporting the weight of the truck. Try some penetrating oil or something similar on the top of the spring so the collar moves freely. Might need to add something to your spanner wrench to give it some additional leverage.

 

Nope already tried that. You have to remove it cause the line for the resi keeps it from turning far enough for the next hole because of the way the designed the ring to lock.

 

its a pain todo just take your time to adjust them

I adjusted mine while on the truck, what adjusting tool do you have?

 

lol the thing they call a spanner wrench which is just a long punch.

 

Yeah king has a wrench with a handle and a curved end, I think you would need that to adjust them on the truck.

 

Did you loosen the set screw on the collar?

 

they sent a long puch basically when they came in. By the way how did your shocks ride out of the box i find mine kinda stiff. I expected a lot softer ride coming from a 6" lift but theres not much of a difference.

And yes i did unlock the allen on the collar but thanks for checkin i know theres people that have forgot.

 

Yeah the tool that comes with the shocks isn't real helpful unless you have a bench with the right setup. I didn't think my shocks rode stiff at all but I ditched the sway bar right away so I'm not sure if that made a difference.

 

Did you come from a stock truck to mid travel? I ditched the sway bar too when i put it all on. I was really hoping itd be way softer over small stuff than it is i didnt really want to have to send it back so soon for a revalve.

Yeah I was stock before the kings, and they don't even seem stiff compared to stock, what's your spring rate?

 

put them on last weekend so been driving nearly a week almost 200 miles on it. i read in the mid travel thread where someone said find some speed bumps and drive over them at a comfortable speed and it should do fine but it wasn't smooth at all and i was only going about 20mph. my dads civic felt smoother, kinda sad.

 

I think they should be the same as every other king for the tacomas unless they changed them recently. I bought them from DSM

 

Yeah they should be 600 unless you requested something else. I have mine cranked up to about 2.75 inches of lift and they soak up speed bumps like nothing's there.

 

Ill give dsm another call on monday and see what they have to say cause mine arent even raised yet and they are rough, one reason why i havent been too thrilled on putting time into raising them. I wonder if they're over charged or something, maybe too much oil, im not sure.
