rear spring dealer time length to install TSB?

Hello all-

Tomorrow my 2011 4wd Double Cab goes in for the install of the rear spring TSB.

Can some of you who've had it done give me a "real world time estimate" for how long it will take if I wait for it?

Dropped mine at 8 in the AM...Called me about lunch time.

 

Depends on when they start, generally takes a couple hours...which also happens to be about the expected life span of the Toyota spring TSB.....

 

But I should add it depends on how & how much your truck is used...has alot to do with longevity of springs

can you tell me what tsb is? and are 2nd gen tacos notorious for weak
springs?

 

TSB = technical service bulletin....they're not recalls but common problems that should be covered under your basic warranty.

my 2011 needs the windshield and blower motor TSB done...waiting for my next service at the dealer.

 

Overall, sadly Toyota hasn't put a decent spring on a truck since pre 1995...

 

I'm not expecting miracles, but I can tell from even non-strenuous use that the OEM pre-TSB springs are wimpy in the extreme; the TSB set should at least be _some_ progress in the right direction.

 

Well I agree, you'd think so but this whole spring TSB shit has followed one production year after another, its just slapping one POS spring on top of another....... Toyota must've gotten a few container ships worth of lousy steel, just really...really....sad...

 

Just had it done last week. The svc manager said that it calls for 3 hours in their time estimate. Having that done plus had them re-aim the headlights and I was out the door in 3-1/2.

 

I had the " TSB " 4 leaf pack stock , they suck

^What he said. I'm ditching my sagging 4 leaf pack for Dakars this Summer. Driving unloaded I've got a bit of Cali slam going. It's embarrassing.

 

so the bottoming out I'm feeling in the rearend is the shock collapsing because of the weak springs? at first I thought it was the snubber hitting the frame but I put grease on the top of the snubber and it never got any on the frame. so the only thing Ican think of is the shock bottoming out, anyone have an opinion?

yeah I understand but what I dont see is why the shock bottoms out before it hits the snubber

 

Because your springs are dogshit & they are so neg. arc'd they're allowing the shock to pre-maturely compress,since I'm betting theres no pos. arc to speak of so there is no "happy zone" , or neutral area for the "mid travel" of your suspension that place where the shock is in its mid stroke , upstroking/downstroking with no stress which is how a normal susp. should be, the only time to stress a shock absorber is offroading/driven aggressively or under heavy load....

In other words the shocks are having to make up for the shit springs

I, of course like to stress my shocks harshly & often...
