I wouldn't buy from that place. Buy from www.SGammo.com, good shipping to us Adam as they are in Oklahoma. they are close enough but far enough away so we dont have to pay sales tax.
I hate paypal, I don't trust them and I wouldn't count on them helping out if you have a dispute. You have more recourse if you use a protected credit card. Bank of America has a cool deal that you can use a 1 time account # for internet purchases for the exact price of the purchase if you dont like to give out you cc# on the net. I have used this 1x when buying a bike from china and it worked out great.

I have a Bushmaster and have never had a issue with it. Im looking around for a 24'' upper to replace the 20'' that I currently have on it.

Just like the look of the long barrel, plus I would like to take it out over 300 yards.

Zombie is right, if you're wanting more velocity the longer barrel is not really worth it. (unless you're handloading and using a slower burning powder you might see more velocity gains, but I doubt it)

Now if youre wanting a tack driver at 300 yds, you could step up to a 24" bull barrel with a faster twist rate so you can shoot the heaviest bullets you can find. (heavier bullets equal higher sectional density which CAN equal higher BC)
The bull barrels are effected less by vibration of each shot, take longer to heat up, provide more weight on the gun, stabilizing the rifle and reducing recoil.

    Nah, not for 5.56.
If you want to play look at .204 Ruger, 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC
Factory ammo available for all and simple to use on your lower.

    Grendel has the farthest reach.
    .204 is a laser.
6.8 SPC is just plain good.

Started ordering parts for my build today. Was wondering what everyones thoughts were on optics. I want either an acog style scope or a reflex eotech style. which do you prefer and what are the benefits/cons of each.

Well obviously the will magnified at 4x. The EOtech won't be.
Personally I don't like using a red dot past 70 yards or so.

yeah i got that.. but doesnt a acog limit your peripheral vision and make short range encounters more difficult.

I wouldn't put an ACOG on a home defense gun, but I think it would be great on a truck/farm gun. EOTechs are great for HD/carbine classes or courses. I have a 1-4x PST that shoots great up close and far away, and is perfect for hunting or 3-gun where you have to engage targets from 25 yards out to 300. It all depends on what you're looking to do with the gun.

I went with a Burris Fast Fire on an AR-F3 mount. Total package was around $270. The FF on the AR-F3 co-witnesses perfectly with my BUIS. Its small and lightweight.

I don't like Eotechs. They're heavy for what they are and limit field of view. They are robust though.

The ACOG sights don't interest me simply because they are fixed power. When I do mount an optic, it will be one of the smaller 1-4x24 scopes (Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x, Burris XTR/MTAC, etc). I can also offset mount the Fast Fire with this scope.

BAC ACOGs use the Bindon Aiming Concept. This allows you to use the daytime illuminated reticle as a ghetto OEG style optic. As you swing onto a target the motion blur allows you to see with the non dominant eye (both eyes open) and when the motion stops you see the magnified view again and it appears to zoom in. The negative is that it is hard to force your brain to use the unmagnified view with no motion blur in the optic and the fact that the reticle is not calibrated to your off eye so the POI/POA don't coincide and it changes depending on head position. Also the fact the reticle is powered by tritium and fiber optics means that if you are in a dark area and look at a bright area you can loose illumination, the reticle turns black because there is not enough ambient light to powere the fiber opti and the tritium is too weak to overpower the light coming through the scope and you lose the BAC effect for a moment. Its not a total solution to the problems of a magnified optic but its better than a traditional magnifeid scope. The total solution is a selectable 1-4X scope. A red dot with magnifier or a combination of a red dot and magnified scope. All have pluses and negatives. For a defensive rifle I would go red dot. For a target gun for fun get magnification. FOr police work I have a T1 and 3X magnifier.

"I don't like Eotechs. They're heavy for what they are and limit field of view."

OK This is the most blatant lie I have heard today. THe EOtech has several negatives but FOV is not one of them. It has the widest FOV of any optic made. THe refferenced optic has a tiny FOV with very limited angle you can see the dot from due to window size. It has blue tint to the glass that the EOtech lacks, It has very distorted edges on the glass because of the extreme curvature of the glass. I have used several mini red dots (Some dont even work in absoloute darkness) and ran a Dr Optic as a solo optic for 9 months straight. The Burris Fast FIre is a clone of the Dr Optic designed for a lower price point. Its not suitable as a promary optic IMO. Its not rugged and has several optic disadvantages... most noably is has the WORST FOV vs the EOtechs best in class FOV.

Read my post about ACOGs above. They dont limit periferal vision but do limit what you can see right in front of you as its hard to see around the scope if its not moving. There is a newer 3X compact ACOG that has a smaller FOV to limit this problem and make BAC use easier.

Thats caused from the bullet rubbing the locking lugs upon removal. Its supposed to not be there upon loading and firing. But you removed a perfectly good round and dragged it across the locking lugs via the ejector and extractor tension.

The 7.62 can is longer, heavier, and louder... enough that I would not consider it. I have been able to use all manner of combinations and for a SBR 5.56 I found even a 6.8 can too loud. I have a friend who is an AAC dealer and several friends with AAC cans. I went with an SPR/M4. THat can was... if not still is the quietest 5.56 can AC makes and its still not 100% pain free in all environment with no hearing protection.
