I have a chance to buy a black 2006 Tacoma dbl cab 4x4 short bed in very good condition with only some minor scratches and a couple little parking lot dents. It has 61k on it which is a little higher than I wanted but still not too high.
I checked KBB and it says 17,400 but they seem to be selling for more than that.
My dream tacoma is this exact truck but in white.
I went and drove it today and it seems to be in great condition but I just havent convinced myself its the right truck for the right price.
    He wants $18k firm
Here is a picture of it:

It looks like a good truck but you shouldnt have to talk yourself into buying a truck that is supposedly your dream truck. Im not being rude but if you are having to talk yourself into buying this truck then i wouldnt get it, because later on if you have problems with it your gonna kick yourself and tell yourself you should have waited for the truck you really wanted. But this is just my opinion and thats not worth a whole lot lol.

i'd have to agree on this

ive always thought something similar every time i see a is this a good deal thread

good deals are different for everyone...that 18K may be a GREAT deal to someone and an awful deal to someone else

do YOU feel like its a good deal and that youd be getting what you want?

    thats the important thing here

It also doesnt help that Im always pretty indecisive on things like this... My last car was an 03 lancer evolution 8 that I dragged my feet on buying for months and got a color I wasnt sure about but ended up loving it and keeping it for 5 years...Also on a side note the wheels look better in person and the tires are new

It's a Taco. It's worth it. I got mine at the beginning of '07 and paid 22k. It only had 25K miles on it. And new tires. That was the cheapest I could find. It wasn't EXACTLY what I was wanting, but it's all I could afford at the time. Now, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Parking lot dents make me sick. Stupid people. I always park as far away from anyone as possible. My girlfriend hates me for it. But she'll be ok. As long as my truck's ok, I'll be happy, which means she stays happy.

That sounds too expensive considering the mileage and the economy. There are plenty of folks losing their jobs these days so keep looking and I bet you'll either find one at a dealer-with warranty.

Is it true that in the warmer states, black is a hard color to sell & goes cheaper? I had a friend in Raleigh, NC who got a killer deal on a black BMW coming back off deployment. Just wondering since the truck is BSP & you want white.. anyway besides the color

If I was going to pay top dollar (price over kbb) it would have to be exactly what I wanted otherwise someday, somewhere it would bug me. I'd also check the truck out @ a reputable mechanic or dealer. That is just me.

good luck truck shopping, its a buyers market for sure!

How long have you been looking? I was going through the same thing when buying my truck... but I had been eyeing them for months and knew mine was about the right price for what I wanted. It's a great looking truck, seems to be a good price. At 61k it's higher mileage but since your buying private party, the guy should have records, which means you should know everything about it - tsbs performed, oil changes, etc. Even if a little overpriced, if you keep it for 5 years that price difference is a drop in the bucket in the long run.

But, take what I say with a grain of salt - I just bought mine last month, and I've bought and sold 4 vehicles in the last 3 years, so I'm not one to "settle"

black is dirty all the time and shows scratches wait for white or other light color. I know here in tx. black is cheaper than other colors. Are you watching craigslist ?

I'd wait until you get the color you really want. Don't settle for a color, get what you want.

Does the current owner still have the stock TRD wheels? If you take the truck have him throw those in on the deal.

Black does seem to be a little harder to sell in AZ just because it gets soo hot in the summer where as white would stay much cooler. Also I just think the truck looks best in white.

I appreciate everyones input and I think Im going to email the guy today and let him know that Im not going to purchase it. I do feel I should hold out for the right one especially since I am not in a huge hurry because I have another car to drive while Im searching.

The truck looks great from the pic you posted. I think the seller is asking a little to much for it.

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
If you really want white, perhaps you should look around some more. Its a waste to spend 18K on a truck that you wished was another color. Unless you can live with it.
I love Taco trucks but I looked a long time for the right color.
