Right now I'm looking at a 09 4x4 Tacoma with TRD Sportpkg w/JBL.
I have not set the price yet with the dealership. I'm also trading in my car as well. I'm going to work out to number individual, because I know what their going to try to pull. It happen to my dad when we bought a Honda Accord.

The salesman had offer 29,500, not including tax and BS FEES (he's been dealing with my boss for quite a few years).

I was thinking I can get it down to 27k or even lower. What do you guys think?

Also they quote my 03 Acura RSX Type S with 90k for 7500. The car is super clean and well maintain. Kelly blue book is at 7300 trade and private I think its high 9k. Think I'll be able to work it up to 8500?

I don't know about the truck price (I bought used), but I doubt you'll get them to move much on the trade if they're already offering full KBB. Thought about selling privately? I bet you could get $9k.

With the current economic status. It'll be more hassle. I think the taxes will be drop by 500 or something of that nature if I trade in the car. So essentially I'm getting 8k, but would like the price a little bit higher.

Got my '09 DC Prerunner, sport, no-JBL, Bluetooth, tow package, window tint and a couple other BS fees (pinstripe?) for 26,500 about a month ago.

I just picked up my 09 DBL TRD Sport on 1/15/09. I paid $23000.00 and 24600.00 out the door (including taxes doc fees etc...) The MSRP on this truck was $30700.00. I did trade in a 03 Ford tauras with 100,000 miles on it which they were not giving me much at all for. I think I got a pretty good deal considering I got laughed out of three other dealerships negotiating $24600.00 out the door. Times are tough for Toyota right now and these past couple of months are the worst months for dealerships ayway so that being said make the experience work in your favor no matter what.

    Good Luck!

Yeah you can talk him down a lot! I bought my 09 dc lb before x-mas. Here is what I got

    09 dc lb sport
    chrome step tube
    tow package
    all weather mats

Do NOT pay for pin striping or the nitrogen they put in your tires. He told me the prices and I told him to take the pin striping off and take out the nitrogen and fill it with FREE air. The salesmen finally just gave me those items. $120 for Nitrogen is silly.

yours is also a prerunner. I say 25k is pretty fair for that model. It's roughly 27k MSRP
The one I want is a 4x4 and MSRP is 31k

Even in a normal market MSRP is usually $2k+ over invoice, plus all the BS that they add on as mentioned above and I think 25k is actually not very good in your favor. You can probably go down to 23/24k if MSRP is 27k.

I bought the same truck in October. I paid a little more since I got the tube steps and skid plate, but suffice to say your offer to them should start with a "28" in front of it if it is the 7 speaker JBL and Bluetooth package. Toyota is not as badly damaged as some other makes, so don't expect them to bend over too far backwards.

A 51% plunge in pickup truck sales this past February, I would say that is pretty bad.

    Make the dealership your Biaaaaaatch!

    Ok...I work some numbers out.
the truck I'm getting is fully load 09 DC LB Sport package. MSRP on it is 32,xxx
One dealership I got it down to 29500, but initial offer was 7500 on 03 Acura RSX Type S. I had to pull and arm n leg to get this price to 8000.
Another dealership match that offer then I bettered it at 29,000 and gave me 8500 for my car.
What do you guys think? Still too much?

Why do you not ask them to show you the invoice?
You also need to see how much of a rebate Toyota is offering. In my area Toyota is offering $1,500.00 cash back. Which means you definitely should not pay anymore than invoice minus the rebate. Dealers do not go by Kelly Blue Book or others similar to it for your trade value. Most use Black Book or Manheim for the value of your trade. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

it's 1000 cash back right now, but I'm looking forward to leasing it because it .00084 percent right now.

Cool, just keep in mind if you lease about mods and mileage limitations.

I don't plan to mod it.
I will be using my gf matrix as a daily driver and I have a scooter in the summer. So I don't think I'll exceed the mileage limitations (12,000/yr)

The only wear and tear is really going to get is when we work on the same days and during the summer when I have to travel to the race track.

I just bought my 09 DC LB SR5 with tow package 3 weeks ago for $27,000. This included $1000 cash back from Toyota. The sticker price was $31,200 and invoice price was $28,400 so I paid well below invoice..

I think right now you should have no problem getting it for invoice cost BEFORE any rebates. Keep in mind the dealer still gets a few % on their holdback so they still make money selling it at invoice cost.

Have you looked into the Costco program? By me, the costco program gets you any Tacoma for $100 over invoice before rebates. the dealer I bought it from didn't participate, but he still beat the Costco price.

In January I traded in my '02 Acura RSX Type S with 70K miles on a '09 Taco Sport DC SB. They only offered $6000 for as trade in. The RSX was in excellent condition and well maintained throughout. I showed them the KBB printout that came right off a link on the Toyota website and complained how they were cheating me on trade in values. They came back with $6750, at the time I didn't want to go through the hassle of selling it privately so I accepted their offer.

So their trade in offer sounds pretty decent to me.

A world of difference between the RSX and the Taco, it won't take long for you to wish you traded in the RSX sooner for a taco. ;)

First post! Great site you guys have here! I have learned so much about the truck and found alot of helpful information!!
