No, you don't need to be a dick. You just need to know how to explain the issue and then mention that you had read online about a TSB that may fix your issue. Again, TSBs aren't meant for you and me, the consumer. They are sent to the dealers to help them correct issues that have been commonly reported. Also, don't expect a Service Advisor to know anything let alone about a specific problem on a specific model unless they have been a Toyota specific service advisor for years which is rare.

I need to get the rear spring TSB and the Blower Motor TSB... I'm at 6k miles and I've already noticed these problems prior to learning about the TSB's. Should I just print the TSB's and go to the dealer? The blower motor one is annoying as fuck.. Sounds like there's baby birds in the heater when I turn it on... What cha' think fellas?

I have had similar issues with my dealership as previous posters in this thread. I have found that if you walk in with a copy of the TSB and explain to them what problems your having and then show them the TSB they have fixed my truck no questions asked.

Side Note: Does anyone know if there is a limit to when I can have TSB's performed on my truck as far as the warranty is concerned? When I bought my truck I purchased the extended warranty, but I have read elsewhere that if you have over 36,000 miles on your odometer (which I am fast approaching) that I will have to pay out of pocket. Any insight?

Any one heard of / or have a TSB for the replacement of the leaf spring silencers? (Those flat plastic things that go between the springs) I have a 2010 with the TSB and the rear end is squeaking like crazy, especially on country roads. I called my dealership and they said it's a known problem but all they would do is put some grease in between the springs....

I know there is the DIY fix, but I'm still under warranty so I figure I'd let Toyota tray and fix it first.

You are outside the 3yr/36k warranty and your friend shouldn't have got his approved since it pertains only to double cabs and access cabs. If you still want it I would go to the dealership your friend went to since they obviously didn't read the TSB. And no, it's not the entire suspension. It's only rear leaf packs and Bilsteins on non TRD trucks before '09. Front coils should not have been replaced.

How do you find out if you qualify for the 5100's??? I am currently waiting for my dealership to get the parts in to do the TSB but I would like to know if I can get the 5100's as well.

I noticed this list goes through TSBs released as of December of 2010? Anything past that for 2011 and 2012?

Have a 2009 double cab off road and have had problems with bottoming out. However, I have 77k on the truck and I decided to give getting the TSB done a shot anyway. After about 4 hours on the phone with extra care and 3 trips to the dealership in Boulder, Colorado. I got the District parts manager for Toyota to "good will" the new 4 Pak springs and u bolts for free. I ended up paying just $205 for labor. Figured it was totally fair and also an awesome deal considering the almost double the 36k warranty coverage. However, I think it's crap that if you purchased the platinum extended warranty, it doesn't cover well documented problems (TSB's) and that they will only replace parts if they are physically broken and that they will only replace them with the old part, not the new improved model. Just my 2 cents...

I had the leaf pack TSB done just a couple months prior to the warranty expiring. I'm on the flip-side of the coin... My truck expired over time and not miles. 2007 TRD Off-Road DC and I just rolled over 30k miles this past week. I put more miles on the motorcycle every year than the truck.

I've yet to try asking for TSB work since the warranty expired... and wouldn't you know it? The damned blower motor sounds like three chipmunks arguing!!! Maybe I'll go pester my sales guy at the dealer and see if we can pressure them at all. ;)
