I've seen this guy's truck in person, it's amazing, one of the cleanest 2nd Gen expedition trucks on the board.

Anyone know if the bed rails are ground? It's cold out and I don't want to check

I built mine on a twin bed bar system. The tire carrier has three bushings; two in the front, one in the rear. It can sit an angle or can sit horizontal at bed rail level. The bed bars slide in the tracks, so when I have the tire down I slide the second bed bar over the tire to pin it in place. The bed bars have tabs for antennas and back up lights.

I know this is a dumb question that I should probably just look through my manual but.. I'm a long ways away from my truck and at work..

If i am going to do a bed track style bed basket to mount all my expedition gear, how much weight (if destributed between both sides, in the center, using a love2surf mounting bracket with i think large Thule bars) do you think the track system can hold safely and handle weight shift through trail riding fully loaded? (Spare 35" wheel tire, hi-lift, shovel, tow straps, bikes, and 2 jerry cans)

Or would I have to reinforce the track system some how?

just finished up with my new bed rack/spare tire mount. big goal of it was to have more mounting space for recovery geat and other goodies than the last one, and allow me to use a tool box i got from another member on here.
tire carrying portion swings up or completely detaches if i ever need more bed space.

got two bike mounts on it too
    [IMG]

anchored to the bed bolts for some extra strength.

it's not 100% done, but all of the big stuff is complete.

i've only had this on the truck for a couple weeks now, but i'm enjoying the versatility. if you design it correctly, it doesn't weigh much either. without the spare strapped to it, i can lift it onto the truck on my own with fairly little effort.

Before I painted it... I just wanted enough room to slide my snowboard underneath. There's 7-1/2" of clearance.
