    Ya, I couldnt tell you the specifics of whats in it thats so bad other than the ovbious, Salt. I spend a lot of time down there during hunting season and it's really hard on the equipment.
    There are areas of mud that do not get rain for months and sit on 100º heat and never dry, I was told it was due to the Alkalinity, who knows tho. It's bad stuff, I do know that much.

    definitely the salt .. Salton sea has a higher concentration than the Pacific Ocean as well as biological run-off from the surrounding areas.

    so did the guys in Mojave when we ran through the salt flats. I admit, I did NOT know about the alkaline levels and all the other chemicals. I also DID NOT expect it to be moist and diarrhetic. I'm very sorry for that, but when I first went it was purely dust out there. You know I'd never take people into hell on purpose.
