It's not new, it's not Mexico
I was on the United States Air Force facebook page last night and one Taylor Schmidt posted: "I want to be a navy seal but air force combat controller sounds pretty cool to what do you guys think?" Well I clicked on his facebook wall and guess what? Under employers the little shit has Navy SEALs, Seal, bad ass. LMFAO but yet it pisses me off. I post: you should take the Trident off your wall and stop listing SEALs as your employer and that the USAF doesn't give the scarlet beret to every joe shit the rag man. The douche replies "the hell".
Now I know this is nothing in the big picture, but it still pisses me off. We all worked hard for every qual we ever earned. It's a great thing to want to be a Navy SEAL but you gotta' earn it just like you gotta' earn your basic DC quals and every other ribbon and badge you wear!
Feel free to comment on the Air Force page and Taylor's page too.

In the navy times this week, there was an e-1 airman whom claimed he was a seal, claimed he got shot 11 times. Got the opportunity to get a hunt from a wounded heros hunt club (can't remember tthe name) turns.out, he is a nobody.

I think that we will always see this, I hate fakes, but they will always claim someone else's glory.

How many books have been written by fake SEALS and SF guys over the years? Someone told me once that there are 10x more ppl that claimed to be SEALS in Vietnam than there have actually been in history. For as awesome as I think it would to be a SEAL, I think those thoughts would quickly vanish about 3 hrs into BUDS being freezing cold, wet and sandy. I only wish I could be that hard core.

Normally yes but when it is in reference to Stolen Valor or an individual impersonating a group of individuals who have done more with their lives than a lot of other people or who sacrificed what they have... Anger ensues. I have not served in any elite force or in any combat capacity but... There is a certain fraternity amongst the Military and it angers us when people impersonate members of the Military, Elite or not.

    See above.

No, it fuels the desire to call out those who should be persecuted for Stolen Valor.
