strange sound when starting engine

    Does anone have any idea what this may be when I start my truck in the morning after it sat all night it makes a grinding noise at the start. It only does it in the morning when it is cold?

    If you are referring to after you put it in drive and release the break. This is the ABS activiating. (So i was told by the dealer at the first oil change)

    no it does the sound as you start the truck while in park before even getting int drive

    If the AC is on and/or the vent is in DeFog setting, then the AC compressor can make an ugly noise on the first start of the day.

    thanks for the help guys thats sort of what i thought im going to take it to the dealer so they can check it out im going to leave overnight so they can start it and hear it also

    x1 What is the position for your vent selector? The sound it makes it absolutely horrible.

    the position for the vent is on the floor one for your feet and the sound is not horrible but it doesnt sound good so i am going to drop it off at the dealership this coming monday

    Search around on the forum. I saw a thread a couple of days ago about someone having odd noise when starting up cold. Once the truck/engine was warmed a little it went away,

    It turned out to be one of the air intakes where it it fastens to the quarter panel I believe. It was fixed by putting some gasket material and / or just tightening the clamp.
