Sucks you guys have a serpentine belt. When I had a squeal after a Rausch trip I just started popping off belts till the noise went away. It's most likely an idler pulley since I believe all of the others don't have bearings in the pulley itself.

Is the idler pulley in the same area as the alternator?

you sure its the new alternator? im thinking that its prob what everyone else said...i had a bunch of funky noises (scott and anthony can tell ya) all of them went away after driving a lil bit, powerwashing the motor bay, and then driving again...might be a temporary fix for now but least i have nothing screaming

Lol.....everyone in here that comes to meets needs to pick up a Chilton or Haynes manual and KEEP it in their truck.

IMO that is by far the worst idea I have ever heard. We specifically talked about this at the meet. If anything wait for it to dry then spray it with compressed air. WD-40 will attract more dirt and water will be useless.

After cleaning the hell out of my truck last summer I noticed I had accidentally directly sprayed my pulleys while cleaning my radiator from the backside (couldn't see them). To this day they still squeek and I am waiting for them to blow up.

Lesson learned to stay slow in puddles unless you want pulley, alternator, and or starter issues.
