I am finally looking at converting my stock fogs over to HID (hopefully retrofitted) and can't seem to decide on the color that would go best. I have 5000k HID projector headlights and 4 Hella 500ff's all converted to 55w 5000k HID... Now that I get to the fogs, I can't decide whether the better route is to go with the 3000k yellow or stick with what my trend has been and go 5000k? Suggestions? Pics of your setup? And just so you know, I am not a fan of the Lamin-X lens covers... So that's not an option either

I've got 3000K HID's in Blazer projectors and love them. I'm running halogen bulbs though (PIAA Xtreme White bulbs).

Sorry but I had to vote for the FU option :D

HID fogs won't do what fogs are intended for thus IMO are a waste of money and time.

    Why would you do that?

I found the higher K rating, the less visible light. So if you put 6000k in your fogs and headlights, you won't be able to see jack in a snow or rain storm.

I got the 3000k fogs (when I still had stock fog lights... grrr) and loved 'em. Would do it allll over again if I could.

Plus, fogs only with 3000k is GREAT for actual fog. If you don't actually drive your truck, and just want it to look pretty... 6000k fogs will look pretty.

Not if they're retrofitted. The retrofitted fogs are the best fog lights I've ever had. They give you a nice, wide, low and bright beam pattern, perfect for snow and fog.

I know I should of went with the lowers but I wanted my head lights to match with my fogs at the time.. Well, it doesn't snow in LA so I can't really give a personal experience. I'm about to get rid of mine anyway and do a retro fit :D headlight and fogs. I don't know why so much hate against 6000K lol.... You're coming off like I bought 12Ks so I can just look cool....

Heh. I just don't see the point of matching the colors to the headlights. In the rain, my 6000k headlights are pretty much worthless. I can't imagine if my fogs were equally as worthless...

No hate tho, just want people to be aware that the higher K rating you go, the less visible/usable light you'll get from the bulb. I had 4300k on my Maxima (retrofits) and it was amazing. Loved 'em. Put 6000k on my truck's headlights, and kinda wish I had done 4300k. Oh well.

IMHO, the offset of yellow and blue look sick. But that's just me :p.

Yay!!! We have some actual discussion up in here... Anyone have pics. Pugga, you have some head on shots for me to peruse? I'm just wondering if when all of my lights are on if 3000k would be distracting up close?

I can get some but I have no idea how they'll turn out. All the shots I have are pointing at the garage door. I tried some from inside the cab but with my crappy camera it just looked like it was completely dark in front of the truck. I don't have a good camera for night shots but I'll give it the old college try!

When I was messing with the aiming and sitting in front of the truck, they're like any projector. You see a little yellow ball of light and it doesn't actually blind you until you're below the cutoff. Above the cutoff, they just look like a little yellow LED lighting up the housing.

My fogs are brighter than my headlights and they are both 35W. But they are still in a halogen housing....
You really can't expect to get A good output from the fogs and headlights with a Halogen Housing.
That's why I can't wait to do my projectors ;)

Yea, no one's going to argue there. I'd love to do a full retrofit on this vehicle too. Not sure I'm going to want to put the time/effort into it this time tho. T'was a big pain in my Maxima, but definitely was worth it in the end.
