    No clue? The traditional incandescent bulbs last longer but not as long as they should. I think it might be because I am on the outer fringe of my power company's territory. I get frequent brown outs. It happened today too. The clock on the stove us blinking.

    That or because of the houses age. I still have some aluminum wire in the house.

    aluminum wire:eek: have you thought about getting it replaced? the place where i grew up was like that, brown outs all the time.

    Yeah, I am remodeling a room at a time so I replace it as I go. My house was built in the late 1890's early 1910's era.

    Yep, good ole Knob and Tube they call it. It is only a fire risk because mice like to chew the insulation off exposing the wire.

    It is referred to as a plank house. Everything is rough cut. There is no such thing as a 16" center which makes hanging dry wall a pita.

    haha we have framers who used to work for us. they never framed anything as a standard! give them 16 or 24" centres and they would do 14, 18, 20, or 26!

    Yeah, I think the house was added onto at one point. They used ceramic tubes to insert in the wood where the wire ran through. I've got a bunch of them. They make excellent knive sharpeners.

    Thos LEDS are expensive, like $90 a tube. I got an email from a company that sells screw in replacements for regular fixtures I will dig it out of my office computer tomorrow and send it to you. They were supposed to be more reasonable.

    i helped tear down my grandparents old place, found a few vintage playboys. they were ruined from water damage and mold.

    There isn't much of it left. Most of it is wire to outlets I can't use because of the configuration. I also don't use them because of the aluminum.
