Xentec HID trouble

A year ago i bought a Xentec Hid hit 9003 bulbs and everything worked fine... they loooked and worked great in high and low beam.... but the back of the hid bulb is bulkier then the stock and i couldn't/ didn't get the gasket/sealer back around the back of the bulb to seal it..... its been only a year and the one head light burned out on me..... any one have prior exp and might know wat happen? or what i could do?.... i'm leaning more towards the headlight is gettin/got moisture in it? that will fry the hid bulbs right? because HID bulbs should last far beyond one year.

it is possible that water did get in there. Did you happen to touch the bulb with your fingers that you can remember? Oil from your fingers can make the bulb burnout premature as well. I am not sure what to suggest because I am not experienced to when it comes to HID kits and their issues. The only thing I would say is get another bulb and switch it. If it doesn't work then there is something else that could be wrong and not the bulb per say.

 

From my experience with HIDs, Xentec are on the poor quality side of HID kits. According to most of the stories I have heard, people were lucky if they worked out of the box. Good possibility the bulb just burned out due to a Lo quality kit.

 

Ive had good quality with the xentec and also good reviews from members and online. Ive also ordered a zentec brand bulb in 6k. Hoping the light matches its been only a year. But when i installed them i did not touch. Used the bubble wrap to plug in. I think if anything. Its just seeing some moisture. Plan a replace bulb and see if it lasts if it doesnt. I gotta figured plan b seal them or mayb a different kit.

 

I keep a flashlight and duct tape in the truck at all times for just such a lighting emergency.

 

Thanks mario. Im goin to change the bulb and pray. But if i have any other problems soon after im just going to go quality with one of the brands u listed.

Hmmm nope. Maybe i should switch the bulbs or balast to make sure... I already ordered new bulb though so ill put it in wen it comes and if thats not it. Then try a balast or new brand

 

My wife's civic is on 3 years with Xentec HID's.. My mom's Taco is on 2 years.. My Taco has had them in for 4-5 months.

Never had one bulb go out or ballast yet.. Maybe I'm just damn lucky?

edit: they are not in anyway 'great quality' but for a deal they aren't bad for what, 40-50$ a set if that....

 

Go with quality halogen bulbs if more usable light is what you're after. Look into the Philips Xtreme Vision 9003 bulbs.

Shoving HIDs in the stock reflectors ends up doing nothing but spraying a bunch of light everywhere you don't need it and blinding other drivers. They're not DOT approved anywhere for a reason.

If you positively must have HIDs, do a proper retrofit or don't do them.

 

Sorry if i blind you! Got the new bulbs in. They have a much smaller hub on the back and now my seal will fit. Ill try n get a pic... I think this is guna work once i pull the seals out of my loft and seal them. It was just the bulb. Yeaaaaa
