They should be spinning from when you left the ground, its stopping the centrifugal force that makes the nose go down. Imagine trying to stop your wheel when its spinning at 60mph. Not sure how it affects a full size truck but it works really good on dirt bikes, quads and RC cars as said. BTW David Bailey (old supercross announcer) figured that out on his dirt bike back in the 80's

Also if your in the air long enough you can actually do it twice on a dirt bike. Hit the brakes, let out the clutch slow (it wont pitch back up if you let out slow) then hit the brakes again

Been wondering something, Is there a reason some of you guys are running so much ride height in the front?

i have high front end ride height because of my 620# coils and 3" lift spindles. i have no preload on my coils, but can't take the collar all the way to the top because my springs are only 16".

i have 18" 550# coils to go on this weekend, which will def help drop the front end down, and 50T leaf springs to lift the rear end up

You seem pretty educated on this!

Why does my rear end compress nice and plush and then springs down real fast bucking my rear end up before the next whoop?

shit if i know haha... want to say it's somwhere around 6 up and 7 down... i think that's close to the standard for 2WD TC kit

with my spindles, if i converted the lower ball joint to a uni i could get an extra inch of droop

Interesting, i would have guessed alot less droop than that from you LCA angle at ride height.

No i believe you and thats really good. I have only built tacomas with engine cages, never one that used the buckets so i was wondering.

Why did you end up getting spindles? For the ride height or durability?

ride height, extra track width, strength, gnar baller status... and i'll eventually do the lower conversion. Solo wants $800 for it though, so going to go with the home made option

And the 4wd/Prerunner tacomas have such a problem with ground clearance without a lift spindle, they drag so bad in deep 2 track

Marnes: "the reason you run such little valving in a leaf spring set up is the leafs them selves and the bushings all create friction while they move. that friction is almost enough to not need rebound valving"

Jtlachac08: Exactly, thats what I was saying! The rebound adjustment that I was talking about was to slow down the rebound of the spring with the shock.

I believe you are reading the quotation wrong. What the person is saying is that the leafs and bushings have so much friction already that it is slowing down the tire from dropping fast enough. That is why he recommends "little rebound valving" so the tire drops down faster.

I dont claim to be an expert that is why I have those quotations. Some made from racers and one person who readily valves shocks for other racers.

But we can agree to disagree. I just know ever since I started getting into offroading, the major concensus was that "leaf spring trucks should have little rebound valving" I know there may be loop holes. But leafs do not act the same way a dirtbike or linked truck suspension works.

This is exactly what i am trying to convey..... Leafs are a whole different setup than Links (w/ coilovers). You might think that if you compress leafs it will get back to its original arch right away. But thats not the case.

If i put a fat chick on my bed and she jumps off. my lefs will not bounce back to its original form. The bushings and other factors restrict this. But if you put a fat chick on the back of a linked truck and she jumps off. im sure you will see a bigger difference of ride height compared to leafs. because the coils are pushing back
