Tan Wet Okole Covers

This is really first gen specific, but I didnt know where else to ask this.

I read around about the colored Wet Okole seat covers (tan particularly) and some people were complaining about fading issues. I am looking for some hands on info with the covers. Do they fade? I read that that tan fades to a greenish tinge, anyone encounter this? I would like to get tan to match but if they are going to fade in a year I will go with the black.

Don't have any wet okoles but sounds like the fade may just be a stain from jean pants? I'd say over time of sliding in and out the jean color stains the covers? Just a guess.

 

Be religious about using a sunshade?

 

haha I could, but I think $300-$500 seat covers shouldnt fade.

 

just get the black ones, I've heard about the lighter color wet okoles fading as well over time..I got black ones even though my interior is gray...

I have tan with black outter, no fading so far. Installed in May? of last year. Dont know why I never took a pic of them but this ones best I have...

I may just do that. The all black are cheaper since they dont need full piping to match the outside colors.

Good to know yours have held up so far.
I saw the UV protectant and wash but from what I read through google searches, it more or less delays the fading issue. All the complaints were a few years old so I didnt know if they maybe changed the dye they use.

 

the sun will fade the shit out of anything no matter how much it costs. My $3000 paint job will fade if I dont take the proper protective measures.

Within reason. There are people complaining about fading after one summer. That, for a $400 seat cover, would be unreasonable.
And with that, the black does not noticibly fade. A friend of mine has had them in her jeep for years and they still look great. That's including 90% of summer time without a top or doors. No uv protectant applied after the first year.

But I have only read from google about fading issues with colored wet okoles. No first hand knowledge. That's why I asked for people that actually have colored (tan or otherwise) to voice their experience.
