im contemplating on selling my ruger mini 14. its a fun gun but as far as practicality wise i'm thinking about getting a good deer rifle.
With most things i sell however, i think i may regret it.

Im thinking i can get a decent hunting rifle for hog, deer for around the same and still come out ahead.

And some of you guys with a .223 rifle, what do you do with it besides take it to the range?
I'm on the fence about this, and i wanna hear some input on what others did or shouldn't have done. Should I just bite the bullet and save for several years?

    what have you regretted selling?

Guns are like women you want everyone you see. I had an AirLite .38 from Swith & Wesson that I wore on my ankle. Sold it because I needed money and I loved my glock 23. Looking back on it I wish I still had it. Start saving and you'll have the money in no time for that new rifle.

I regret selling the following: Bushmaster AR15, Custom AR15, Custom Stag AR15, Browning .243, Sig .22. Those are all the ones I have sold to buy another. Now I am down an AR and a .243 because I needed money to build a Precision Rifle but the $ has since gone into other things. If you sell put the money in the safe or directly into a gun. Otherwise keep them. Mini 14s aren't the most in demand gun out there but they are always going up in price just like 10/22s.

I used to have a Ruger P89 9mm that I missed badly. I thought about getting another one, but I have a Beretta PX4 which is similar in function. I recently shot a P90 and don't miss the P89 so much anymore. I'm happier with my beretta. you just might be happier with another rifle.

maybe try buying it and if you feel it fulfills all your needs and wants sell the mini.

I miss my AR, my .270 and my 1911. If I could have one of them back, it would be my AR, simply because I found out about the SlideFire stock......

I had a beautiful 9mm Macarov. It was my first and only gun for a long time. The problem with it was ammunition was pretty expensive and hard to find so to get a good price you had to buy it in bulk. which ment spending even more money that I didn't have at the time. So I ended up selling it to put money towards a Springfield Armory .40 XD Sub Compact. I love My XD and still have it to this day but I regretted selling the Macarov the minute I got the XD. Because It was in such great condition It would have made a great gun to have in a collection. Once I no longer needed it for a daily carry gun it seemed like a great gun to have. Since then I haven't been able to find a macarov for sale in as good a condition as my old one. (Honestly I've only looked around a couple of times.)

Nope... the number one rule about "collecting" guns: you NEVER sell your guns!

I had a 9mm glock that I sold to get a Remington 700 .308 heavy barrel that was already duracoated in coyote/tan.

I got the black rifle itch and sold the .308 for a RRA...I kick myself all the time for that one.

Great advice! I keep a bank envelope in my safe to put money in whenever I sell a gun. the only thing that money is used for is to buy another gun

Im starting to believe this. ok, heres another option, i know the mini 14 isnt the most accurate out of the box, the ars are better. should i put money into buying a barrel stabilizer synthetic stock, etc or sell and spend money on a decent AR?

I wouldnt dump any money into the mini. save up and buy yourself an AR a few pieces at a time.

I like AR's but I like building them more than shooting them "when I am paying for ammo". The Rifle build is on hold due to funds, but like I said... I sold my last AR to a friend to buy a scope and I didn't pull the trigger right away so I have to wait to for some more money to get it finished. Which is why I recommend locking on a purchase before you sell.

I have never sold anything for this exact reason, I know I would regret it, and if you want to buy another one in a few years it will have doubled in price and your money will have halved in value... I did sell an AR Complete Upper and was very happy that I sold it, but I replaced that upper with a better upper the minute I sold it, and I kept the same lower (gun part).

Keep it, save your pennies and buy the other gun, a mini 14 is a nice gun to have. My guns are the last thing I will sell, to many are either home built or collectible that I got for a good price and in good condition.

I would say keep what you have and put a little money into it. But thats up to you... Or you could keep your mini and go buy a AR... Or you could sell the mini to me :D I can make some room for it in the safe.

I would say check this out
