Ok so that big cantilever arm that the shocks are attached to pivots on a torsion bar that it solid attached to the frame on the other side, so it acts as a spring. As the axle comes up that whole arm pivots and compresses the shocks.

 

It was built in the early 90s and was state of the art at the time. It worked so well it was still winning 15 years later.

 

do you have a picture of a torsion bar?

is it some kind of spring mechanism that springs back? like the spring winds up and unwinds?

Saw that truck in person a few years back, it absurd, something like 400 dimple dies on it, even the cab cage has them every where

It really is, I helped Dan do a tear down on Kung fu after a rainy Laughlin race... 600ft of tubing = worst day of my life
