I put a tube step on my new taco so I don't look too old trying to get in the truck. A little arthritis does not help the sideways hip movement. The tube step works. I really like my taco.

thanks: it's amazing what we'll do to try to catch fish.
actually, it's a bare bones jon boat. nothing set up at all. this perticular boat doesn't even have pedistal bases, just 2 bench seats, and no sub floor.
    I'm taking care of that!
for a "2006" all welded,1654 tracker grizzley, it's amazing how really basic it is. but like I said before; gives me something to do in my spare time!

Morning All...Welcome Fair Wind:wave:, plenty of room on the porch...TW can be quite addicting....

Sorry about your neighbor Jim, He is added to my prayer:pray: list right next to Chet... How is he doing?

My Pop passed on in 1970 and never really talked about his time in the Navy during WWII...He left pictures but my Mom didn't really know much...he was at Omaha Beach 2 days after it was secured...here is a picture(not best quality) that he had taken and I even tried to photo shop it to clear it up to no avail...

    Enjoy the day all...TGIF...Ken

Morning All,, Thanks on Chet and Ol Glen. Chet is going home for a week or so next week. He has no hair but the cancer is getting smaller (WOOT) Looks like he will kick it this time. Dr said they got it in time, Hes one lucky man. As for my old pal Glen he was Seabee in WW2 in the west pac. ran a bulldozer to keep the runways open for our birds. He said he had to run for cover when he saw the little gray puffs hit the dozer,, Jap snipper missed. The USMC boy's would put a few hundred rounds in the woods and he was back to work. He said the only thing he could hear was the air raid horn. then it was haul to the nearest bunker. bombs would hit his runway so the work started all over yet one more time. I have already told his son that when he goes I want to be one of the six that take him on his last walk.. Jim

Not talking about the horrors our fathers saw is pretty typical. I wish my dad had been able to work with the Library of Congress and do an interview before Alzheimer's took his memory away.

    Military Cemetaries.

    http://www.mdva.state.md.us/cemeteries/cheltenham.html

Both of my parents are interned at Cheltengham here in Maryland. My mom passed on in 1998. She served as a WAC in WW2 stationed in London.

The day of her internment the Cheltengham Director was talking to us explaining the internment process. At one point in the conversation he said when my dad's time came he would be buried underneath mom. My younger sister without a missed beat corrected him by saying oh no you have it wrong, they will be buried side by side. The director was really embarrassed when he realized that both my mom and dad served in WW2.

The Air Force, out of Andrews AB, did a fly over when the flag was lowered to half staff. I had no idea that this would be a part of the service.

When I was out at the grave site this past Christmas to lay a wreath on the graves I also put down some fertilizer and grass seed. I believe my dad appreciates that. ;)

THX Jim. Just an interesting little story. Cheltingham really is a nice cemetary. Had I been thinking better I would have reserved a plot next to my parents.

I will be placing flowers on the gravesite on the 28th of this month. It is my parents wedding anniversary.

Probably put down some more grass seed as well.

My dad was WWII Pacific, an MP. My Uncle, dads brother was in Europe. Uncle Joe was a tanker in Patton's 3rd. During the whole war neither one knew if the other was alive or not. My dad told me that out of the eleven men in their little coal town community that went to war, only my dad and my uncle returned. A good book to read is Tom Brokaw's "The Greatest Generation".

    Paul
    Your family sound like mine.

My dad was in Italy and Spain, mom was in London. I had one uncle that was a Navigator on a bomber out of England another uncle at Guadalcanal a third uncle in Africa and a fourth in Europe. Two of the uncles were lifers one in the Corps and the other was in every service. He retired from the Air Force. I had two aunts that both did duty in the US. One was a Marine and the other was a WAC.

Good morning all. Time for me to head to the gym and get some cardio in for the day.
