Lockright is awesome. It's not loud or noisey or anything. I was really surprised. It's very street friendly. I am extremely happy with it and very impressed with it's performance on and off road.

Word of caution, Automatic transmission gives totally different feeling for lockright because it is always "loaded".

sorry bringing this thread back to life lol. its gonna be a while till i get one of these but im thinking the no-slip. i have a 4x4 96 4cyl manual transmission. ive read a couple of times about how the no-slip is better for an MT. a couple of questions how do i know if the no-slip will fit my truck? i cant really tell which one will fit mine. sorry for th newb questions but everything Ive read in this thread about this locker is awesome, and honestly for 410 or what ever other price (i know its usually under $500) for this locker is just a damn good deal from what i am reading.

There are lots of locker options out there for Toyota axles. And this is one of them, IMO a bit noisy but effective (Lock-right), you will have a little bit of oversteer when on the throttle (thats what that last few people mentioned) and this is greater with larger tires and or more horsepower.

Makes a huge difference off-road especially in a truck that has limited traction / weight in the rear..

My Lock Rite doesn't make any noise in the xrunner rear end and it also doesn't feel like it grabs as well as my other diff with the Detroit either. If you can find a Detroit to fit in your housing I would suggest going with them.

Unortunately with the I4 @ only 150hp, I don't seem to have the oversteer problem :( lol.
However in the few cases where we have had snow here in South Carolina, I have found it VERY controllable. Plus amazing traction in mud, gravel, dirt and rocks. The installation is very, very simple and your average shade tree mechanic can install one with the help of a friend in as little as 5 hrs as there is no backlash to set.

A no slip up front is what i call a Diff grenade! From what i heard they are more easily put into binds in the front.

I also have about 10,000 on my no slip in the rear and its still going strong!

Does it engage easily? Or do you have to punch it for it to lock the rear? Does it get quieter the longer its used? Do you like it? Also how are its road manners?

It engages really easily, mine isnt loud at all and the road manners are great its the turns you have to watch out for haha. You have to teach yourself how to drive with it where it wont chirp the tires or anything. The traction difference is amazing, i climbed some stuff at an offroad park my friends were  and would not attempt on their atv's

I think if you really need that much more traction, just spend a little extra and get the ARB. If your serious into offroading spend the extra money for serious parts.

For 2nd Gen guys....where did you get yours and how much did it run you? I just called 4Wheel Parts and it will cost me $451+tax down the street from me. Do we have any vendors on the forum I could support that offer it a little cheaper?

They don't have the No-Slip but they do have the LockRight. I spoke to Ryan on the phone (just now) and he said they stopped carrying the No-Slip because people had problems with them either not locking or breaking them.

Everyone here seems to have had good experiences with them though so I'm a little confused by his statement. Any 2nd gen guys want to chime in?
