    I agree, doesnt make sense.


    I blowed my 1st gen e-locker rear end up :D Hopefully it doesnt happen again, but the warranty from ECGS should take care of it if it does. I dont understand why they gonna put that same axle under a heavier truck? Just dont make sense.

    Also, if I was going to go through all the trouble to swap in an 8.4 rear end, why not just put a land cruiser axle in the back? Or something even stronger?

    Nah, shaved and it's pretty much the best rear end for pretty much any truck..and front end too..

    But, what would you recommend? Custom housing obviously would be ideal but a rockjock 60 would be best.

    Gentleman I need your help. I am at a cross roads between doing leaf sprung or coil over sas. What is stopping me from coil over is still having the rear leaf sprung. What articulation issues do you forsee with coil front leaf rear?

    Truely coils are pretty simple... But you gotta know math. Are you going to be DD'ing your truck? leafs are generally better for DD unless you perfect the link system.

    And tons of people link the front leaving the back for leafs

    Price did concern me for a bit. The fab would be done by my army buddies and I. The geometry would be drafted and calculated by the owner of the shop. Chances are I will go the Leaf route simply for simplicity reasons. My question is does the All Pro kit work with any axle? Since I'm doing this out of a well stocked shop am I better off just making the entire kit from scratch?

    All poo kit is bad, if you do get a kit get a TG kit... hate to say, but yeah.. Otherwise FRORF, or sky manufacturing.. check them out. Look at the kits and see if you really need everything the kit offers. If not look at making your own build.

    Are there different types of 14 bolt axles?
    What vehicles would I be looking for that would be best to pull one from?

    With a 14 bolt you will lose ground clearance, don't run tons unless you plan on a 42+" tire. A gm 14 bolt only has 13" of diff. Clearance sitting on 42's, shaving it gives a couple more inches, but in all honesty, your Toyota rear with chromollys will hold a 37" for a long time

    Truely the stock toyota axle is just fine for 37"s lol (pretty much :p). And you're exactly right abot the tons. Shaved tons are a must. Put dat bitch on 42s!! :eek:

    I've looked at the sky kits. I wasn't too impressed. The point that Wayne (from Pro Dirt) had made was that we won't need 70-80% of the stuff in any kits that are offered. I'm going to look into the TG kits since I've never heard of them. This may just turn into a pieced together custom job.

    the only thing i haven't liked about the sky kit is the front spring hanger is a piece of channel iron, instead of a fully boxed piece

    Addicted is a 3rd party company, they just sell TG products as well as other products. They don't really have too many of their own for SAS stuff.

    But Scotty does amazing fab work on trucks :cool:

    It's not fully boxed because it's designed to stay "low" If it's boxxed, thats 2" higher lift.

    Rock assault housings are MEH. Get a ruffstuff housing if ANYTHING. personally if you're building the older toyota, leave it toyota front/rear. Toy axle with birfs is plenty strong to handle 37s
