Shopping for a truck for my brother. A local dealership has a Super White TRD Sport Access cab prerunner. They're claiming they can sell it to us at their invoice price of $27,800+ttl.

Does that sound right? I looked up the truecar price and it's claiming a "good deal" would be $25,800.

I don't think I paid much more for my 2010 DC TRD offroad 4x4...

That's what I thought too. It would be close to $30k after tt&l, and it's not even a 4x4.

If anyone knows a dealer in the Houston area that gives good deals, and doesn't play any games let me know.

never go in the dealership and try to make a deal. Truecar.com and then deal with the fleet mgr through email. Once the deal is accepted THEN you go into the dealership to finish the deal. IMO, WTF is a TRD worth if it doesn't have 4x4? If you get it make sure you bring tow straps so someone can haul your truck out of the mud or a ditch should you decide to do some real off-roading in your cool off-road-looking truck. lol

How many new car purchases have you made? Just curious.

So you have done this before? You emailed the fleet mgr "Hey, I have a price for truecar.com, will you match it?" and he replies "Sure I can".

It seems too good to be true to me.

WTF is TRD worth anyway? How many people here (including myself) paid for the TRD package and immediately removed the Billsteins and TRD wheels. It's just an appearance pkg anyway.

My brother will never use 4x4, so he does not want a 4x4

My brother bought a 2011 TRD sport DC pre-runner for "their invoice" and it was about the same, 27 something on his double cab. I know it's a year newer but it still sounds high.

Yup and it works! Before the internet was mainstream I did it over the phone, called every dealership with my price within 50 miles. 1 came back with below invoice just to get the truck off their lot. My very first new car purchase I went in to the dealership and I got raped. I learned a very costly lesson but hey I was only 19 at the time. Live and learn.

Why don't you just get an 2wd SR5 and just put a hood scoop on it and TRD Sport stickers if you love the look so much? lol Will save you some $ since that's why you are posting here. IMO, a TRD prerunner 2wd is a poser. Just saying compadre.....
