Popping noise after lift install

I have a 92 pickup. I just lifted it with a rough country drop bracket lift. When I have the steering wheel at full lock left, it makes a metal on metal popping noise as if something is binding. What could it be? We have replaced the tie rods and lower ball joint. The sway bar is removed, so those aren't the culprit. I can't see anything binding. However the whole lower ball joint/ control arm pops and vibrates when turned all the way. All the bolts are torqued to spec. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!

 

On an IFS it could be a CV joint or a wheel bearing, on a solid axle, it could be a U joint or wheel bearing. If you need help diagnosing which one these are, post up some more info.

 

CV is a good idea. That would be an easy thing to try. I replaced the driver side one, but not the passenger side one. There isn't any movement when I move the wheel, so I don't think wheel bearing is it. I know I need a new idler arm, but every thing else seems to look fine...

 

If you got the wheel bearing diagnosis you probabaly know how to daiagnose a bad CV.

 

The CV appears to be fine. Where the CV meets the diff, it is a bit loose...but I don't know if that is normal or not. Could lower control arm bushings cause the noise?

 

Maybe, are the bolts tight? Is there any play in the bushing? Also check that the strut rod nut is tight as well.

 

The bolts are tight. No play in the bushing area from what I can tell. I'm not certain what a strut nut is...but I don't think I have one...

 

A shock and spring combo is a strut. Not sure what your truck has, but I've heard popping noises that all it was, was a loose nut or bolt. Last one was a strut rod top nut.

 

I see. Yeah, no springs on the truck. It has a torsion bar suspension.
