After looking through your build thread (which is awesome and very helpful by the way) I didn't see any write up or link on how you took 2 inches out of the fender or narrowed the flares 2 inches. I would like to do that to my truck sometime.

    Well...

I pulled the flares, used a tape to mark a little over 2" up from the bottom line of the fender, marked with sharpie. Think I did like 2 1/4 or 2 1/2". Notched every few inches with a angle grinder and cutting disk and then folded all the flaps up into the fender well after touching up the cuts with some paint. Did this to all four corners.

Had a body shop do my flares. They cut 2" out of my flares then used 3M duramix 08223 adhesive and a few pieces of an XJ flare to glue the two halves back together and fill them in. Once the duramix cures its sandable. They smoothed them all out super nice. They gave them back rattle canned but I scuffed em up and used spray on bed liner. Popped them back on and the rear ones were a bit off I can't explain why as we never figured it out since they didn't touch the mounting clips. There was a gap a bit larger than the factory rubber strip could accomodate so we filled it in using the same stuff. Basically glued my flares to the bedsides. Sanded smooth, taped it all off and sprayed em again with bedliner.

Doesn't look AS clean as the factory rubber strip but I don't have a problem with it.

    They're kinda dirty obviously here.

Cost me a lot, could probably do it myself for half the cost now but not sure if they'd turn out as well as these did.

This was kinda pioneered by Anton and Eric as I understand it. Check out Relentless Tacos 2nd gen build for some pictures of how he did his.

Heres a picture of how much clearance I gained from factory.

And a picture of how they're folded and cut.

Wow I didn't think 2 inches would be that noticeable. I am interested in doing this at some point in time but I definitely don't have the means or the know how lol

    If I could do it over I'd take about 2 1/2" - 2 3/4" out I think.
