I don't relish in " talking down " to younger participants , there is lots of humour on this site , perhaps you missed all of it .

I'm not interested in taking this thread way off topic over this point of yours I don't even get .

If that makes you feel superior , so be it , I care not .

I'm not reading this whole thread but to the people that think Israel will strike Iran, here's something to think about.

Israel can't put warheads on foreheads in Iran without some kind of mid-air refueling operation or a secondary landing strip near Iran. The only people with the power who are willing to actually do this is us. We would have to let Israel land on one of our bases (Qatar would be perfect) or we would need to supple KC-135's or something similar to support Israels F-16's in the long flight each way during an attack run. Yes there is a private company that flys old 707's that could do inflight refueling at cost to Israel but they don't have enough aircraft to support a full on fight. Personally I don't think we will or will ever do it. This is why there hasn't been an attack yet.

As for american troops on the ground in Iran ~ it'll never happen. They have the 5th biggest army in the world. Its a rather large country too and very modern. Iran has stealth missiles that could easily hit ships just off their coast with little defense from our current systems. We would take heavy losses. Not to mention the cost. Iran has every right in the world to hate us. Have we all forgotten Iran Air Flight 655? We killed a lot of people that day for nothing. Not to mention we tried to over throw their government twice in the 50's and then again in the 70's.

You would have to think the US forces are fatigued from the continuous action of the past decade

You have to realize that Iran is armed to the teeth. Its not a third world county. You can't just launch a couple missiles and be done with it. It would be a full on war like nothing you or I have seen in our life times.

If something happened and this strait got shut down and civil transportation was haulted you would feel it $$ wise in every last thing you did to an extent that many people don't realize

Im not saying launching missiles. Im saying we could drop bombs from the damned ionosphere and obliterate that country before one of our soldiers even sets foot on that country.

The only reason we have the mightiest military in the world was the money that bought it. that money is now gone we have to play smarter.

I have trouble imagining an adult taking this seriously. Do you think that nuking Iran will bring peace? Did destroying Iraq? Did killing Usama Bin Laden and crippling the Taliban?
People wanted to nuke the Soviets, nuke the North Koreans, the North Vietnamese, nuke Khadaffi, nuke Iraq....
Do you realize that there is more to it than just dropping bombs from the ding dang galdern ionosphere?
Even if a complete psychopath were to be in charge (hence the Republican all-star Santorum), and Iran was nuked, you would still have to send in ground troops to mop up, restore order, provide aid, rebuild some sort of stability, unless you want to make it an occupation, which can easily be mistaken (sic) for colonization.
Oh, wait, the UN didn't support our idea to bomb Iran into the stone age! Now what? We have no support, and we're flipping the bill for another useless war. We can use all of that oil money to fund the war, right? Hell no! Fuel prices still skyrocket, and mulahs and oil companies make billions!
Meanwhile, US troops are surrounded by a bunch of very angry middle eastern countries who aren't too happy with their land and water resources being poisoned by nuclear fallout. Qatar refuses to let us operate out of Al Udeid, no more flights out of Turkey. The UN countries who disagreed with our little nuclear action decide that it's too dangerous to be the big lumbering cowboys' friends and kick us out of Aviano, Italy, and Greece. Now what?
You have to think beyond this kindergarten 'let's just bomb them fuckers' approach.

Not one that can travel far enough to be worth while. They need a carrier based launch to be honest. But they sure as hell don't have a carrier. I think they would have already attacked if they could solve their fuel problems.

Does everyone that has an opinion on iran have experiance in the middle east?
We're not only in two wars right now. There's korea, libia, cuba, and even in south america.

As far as iran, setting off a nuclear weapon would guarantee their destruction. Theyre not stupid. How would they even use it?!? They dont have icbm's, trident subs, or an air force with long range capabilities. And its not like in the movies where you can just throw a nuke in a pickup and drive it somewhere. They are HEAVY, complex, large things.
