Wisdom on changing and braking in new rotors and pads/

So my powerslot rotors and hawk lts pads came in the mail. I plan on installing them in the next few days. Is there any wisdom the forum would like to bestow upon me, as far as swapping out the oem parts for the new parts, and braking them in? Any advice would be appreciated.

I assume you have read this/watched the video. Or know how to change the and are asking for something beyond the physical process of doing it.

 

I would say don't slam the brakes on go easy for the first few miles.Once the pads and rotors go through some heat cycles there good to go.

 

Make sure you hit the rotors on with a mallet or they'll rub I just installed the same combo

 

I think what he means is that you should clean off any corrosion on the hub surface with a wire brush of some sort and apply some antiseize so that the rotor will seat correctly and prevent corrosion in the future.

If you clean it up you won't have to smack it on.

 

follow the break in procedure suggested by the pad manufacturer.

 

Couple of hard stops and you are good to go

 

The only corrosion I had was just caked on brake dust which I cleaned off they rubbed on the rotors cause they weren't seated properly... Brakes and rotors work fine now just make sure to remove your brake fluid cap, then get in afterwards press the pedal until your calipers fill back up and drive around the block
