I'm looking to purchase an 09 Tacoma TRD Sprt double cab. I own a 94 Toyota 4X4 V6 146K loaded with some rust on the outside. Invoice on the truck i was looking at was around 29,900 and by the time i left i had the dealer down to 23,500 with my trade and the 1500 cash insentive. How does this sound to all you Taco owners? Oh ya and thats also with the upgraded cat back exhaust installed with floor mats. Could'nt get him any lower than 23,500 though........ :D

How much "cash value" did they give you for your trade?

    29900 - 23500 = 6400. 6400 - 1500 cash incentive = 4900. 4900 cash value for trade.

Yes thats about where i stand...........Told him i'll be visiting a few other dealers this weekend and will go from there. 5 grand or 4900 is in my book a very good trade in value. Looked at Nada and KBB and had my truck under than amount.....

Sounds like a good deal...unfortunately $23,500 is not OTD though...you'll end up paying taxes and fees on top of it. I say go for it!

Just saw a 96 4wd with 146k on it go for 6800 at a Toyota dealer the other day when searching out somethin for one of my daughters. It seemed in fairly good shape & wasn't there long. Saw it on the web & saw it drive off from the lot pulling in to look at other stuff the same day. I know the dealer ain't gonna give ya what they will sell it for tho. They'd probably have yours up for 6k + after you trade it in.

I'm going to see about getting all fees waved - sales tax can be claimed on my taxes at the end of the year........ :)

Can you wheel n deal on your financing percent? He had me at 5.9 for 60 months. My wifes company can get me at 4.2 for 60.......

But can the dealership lower that or even give me 0% financing?

Can't help ya on that one. Paid cash for the last 2 I've bought. Fuck all interest FTW! They should work with ya somewhat especially given the economy but they will still act like hardasses about it like nothing has happened to the economy. I'd say play that other shit against them & walk & let them stew if it's not some emergency to get something. Do that at several places & see who really wants your business...especially if you have the credit score to push them with. Not thinkin you'll see 0 on used & real stretch on new unless significant down payment/good credit score. They advertise that more than folks will ever get it.

Ya know since they're jacking up the price on my trade in which i should never had done during negotiating there stiffing me with that 5.9%. But i'm still visiting a few other dealers and will do things differently.....like taking all of those fees off.........thats BS!

you can get 4.9 for 60 from toyota or 1000 cash back...the 1000 cash back worked better on my new taco. I got 5.6% for 60 and took the 1000 cash back, it was about $10 cheaper per month to go the cash back. I think you will be hard pressed to get them to waive the 399 admin crap they charge. These dealers need to make a little money don't you think?? Who is going to service all of trucks if they go broke?

Believe me, they get theirs. They make money just from the sale alone. Everything else is bonus.

I'll keep preaching about auto brokers and credit unions. I got mine for under dealer invoice and 4.7%, never negotiated, and had it delivered to me.

My bother who worked as a sales guy at a toyota dealter a few years ago told me they would still make about $2000k selling at invoice. Not sure if this is still true as its been a few years.

the invoice price on the truck I'm looking at is 29900. I got it knock down to 29000, but I'll still have to pay licensing, doc, and bs fees. I think when it's all said and done. It going to be close to 30.5k. I'll be saving a little bit money on tax because I'm trading in my car. I still owe 6900 and I finally had a offer of 8500 from them. Looking to get a set of all weather floormats thrown in there.
