What if we had all the oil?

Just think of how much we could control if we had the huge oil reserves that the Middle East has! We would own the world and everyone would hate us. It be like things now, but we would control the oil. We probably have a huge oil surplus in our borders, but we can't drill because of speckled owls, deer, and fish. Gas wouldn't be a commodity anymore, it be a luxury everyone could have! Oh, how nice it would be.......

 

There would most likely be lots of bloodshed on our soil...

we currently have plenty of oil...actually, so much that the oil companies export most of the oil they pump and refine.

US oil exports have doubled in the past few years.

so, while I am one for "drill baby drill"...both oil and nat gas exploration...until "terms of contract" between the Feds and the oil companies change...

drilling more and shipping it over seas does zero to influence cost at the pump. and, isn't that the real issue?

 

Canada supposedly has more oil in the oil sands than Saudi Arabia, but I don't see gas at 50 cents a gallon north of the border.

unfortunately, oil is not a free market product. so typical supply/demand economics do not apply. it is a cartel ran monopoly...and most of us don't live on Park Place.

maybe we do...and are just hoarding it until the rest of the world runs low...then it's OUR turn to play the price hiking games....

 

The only problem is it cost more to separate from the sand then it's worth.

 

They'd still come up with excuses such as: A couple of refineries are broken; A pipeline leaking; blah, blah, blah.

They will always rape us! Why? Cause they can. They know there isn't a damn thing we can do about it.

There is boatloads of oil out there!! The U.S. has oil reserves that make the Saudi's reserves look like kid's toybox. Just to give you an Idea, the last time the U.S. built a new refinery was in 1976!!!!!. Thats keeping the Supply low and the demand keeps rising.

and, as posted...oil prices are not "supply/demand" driven like most products, services or commodities.

I remember hearing a rumor that a while ago some scientists discovered oil doesnt come from fossilized anything but actually seeps from the inner core of the earth. but at a much slower rate than we are consuming it. interesting tho.
