So my father and I have been looking at an H&K P30 for a long time. For his birthday/present to the family, I was thinking of buying one.

I am under 21. Could I buy it on my credit card and then he would pick it up from the FFL? Or would the gun have to be purchased on the same credit card as the registered owner of the gun?

I realize the rules might vary state to state but if anyone has an answer it would be appreciated.

Varies from state to state. You could NOT do it in California.

It's not important who pays but who it's registered too!

That's kinda what I figured. That as long as my dad went to pick it up and it was registered in his name, it wouldn't matter who paid for the gun.

purchasing under age 21 is illegal in most states i believe... why don't you give him a gift certificate to the retailer instead ;)

I think it would still be illegal for you to pay for the firearm regardless of if he picked it up himself.
