stock tire mileage

hey everyone, i have the stock tires that came on my dbl cab trd sport. i have just over 17,000 miles on them and they are already extremely worn. at this rate i'm guessing i'll need new tires at 25,000 miles. i am very good about tire pressure. i test it abpout once a week, and adjust it from there. the truck is properly alligned, i rotate the tires, and i don't have any driving habits that would wear them down faster than normal (burnouts or taking corners fast). so i'm just wondering if...

1) i'm doing something wrong
2) 25,000 miles is normal for the stock tires
3) i got a bad set of tires

 

I have mine on with 25K miles and I have a tone left. I am kinda disappointed they performed so good cuz I want to put tires on my new wheels and I feel like I'd waste them if I took them off now

 

my stocks gave me over 35k and still had thread left, how often you rotate?

 

about every 5,000 miles

 

put new tires on the new wheels and keep the ols tires on the old wheels, and when oyu are going on long trips and things like that you can put the old tires on so you don't eat up the new ones

 

Good idea, I was thinking about keeping them if they were steel for offroading, but I don't know how to tell if they are alloy or steel. I think they are alloy and I would like to sell them to help with the new tires

 

good mechanic told me the first 50 % usually wears really fast and the other 50 % is slower.. If I get 30 I will be surprised i rotate every 7,000. I will be fne this summer but will have to get new ones before next winter.....

 

ok, makes sense. that's pretty reasuring. i'm the same, i'm gonna get them through the summer, and hopefully pick up a nice set of at's or mt's...get em after the summer where i'll be towing a 6000 lb boat all the time...haha, come to think of it, that may be one of the reasons they are worn so badly..but the 2nd 50% thing is good to hear. thanks for the insight.
