Dash lights

I just noticed (had it for week), that my dash lights are always on, while the truck is running, it's a 2008...is that normal???
Also, does anybody know if the truck is equiped with "run-down battery" protection, in case you leave your inside lights on or headlights??

My dash lights are always on in my 2005 DC. I think it is normal for our trucks so I wouldn't worry too much. Also, my truck won't let me leave the headlights on so I don't know about the battery run down protection.

 

on my '07 the lights are always on for the gauge pod.
when the head lights are turned on, the lights on the HVAC system come on as well.

no idea about the run-down

 

Yeah on my 06' they are always on unless I turn down the intensity to zero which I do sometimes thinking it will save on bulb life! I'm not even sure if it does!?!?

Yeah...it's annoying. I have to get used to using the little light to know if my lights are on. I always knew when they were on in my 2004 because of the lit guages.

That is taking some getting used to.



But I do like that all Tacoma's (including my 2004) shut the lights off when it's off and the door is opened. You can never leave them on. And also, it's difficult to lock your keys in there. Always liked those features on the Tacoma!

 

Yea they're always on in my '05. My girlfriend left one of the interior lights on when she got out of it a couple months ago. I was down at school and didn't even go to my truck for 4 days. Got to the truck, the light was still on, and she cranked right up. She did it again a few days ago, but the light was only on for about an hour and a half. But, still cranked right up. Apparently I'm just gonna have to stop lettin the girlfriend ride in it.

 

Maybe you just need to get the girlfriend to fiddle with something else besides the light switches

I think you can leave them on (just in case you need it), but you have to shut them off, then turn them back on again.
