    My name is Chris, I'm 23 and been in aviation since I was 17, and a Licensed Airframe and Powerplant mechanic for the past 5 years. Ive worked mostly on Citation Business Jets and Predator UAVs.

    I thought I would create a thread looking to answer any questions about aviation. if you are in the aviation field you have a very different perspective of aviation than a normal commercial airline passenger. Hopefully this thread will give people more peace of mind the next time they board an aircraft.

    I am no expert but I can answer a lot of basic questions and If I don't know the answer I will try to find out or someone else can chime in if they know.

    It seems confusing but they really arent! They are just intimidating before you get to know them.

    Custom body work/damage ARB rear locker Bumpers Shocks Other parts Tires and Rims Air tank fully plumbed into truck "Golf ball mod"
    what do you know about turbines? or micro turbines such as turbines used in rc type aircraft? what bout 2 stage turbines?

    What would you like to know? I worked mostly on Pratt and Whitney 545B model engines. And i know nothing of the micro/rc engines. but they do follow a common theory. suck, squeeze, bang, blow.

    Is the aviation maint industry going to pick up for mechs with no experience?
    I have an A&P but work in aviation manufacturing as a floor monkey, unlike everyone else there i have an education.

    its all about where and how much effort you put into getting your resume out there. there are lots of school only friendly companys...cessna being one or northrop grumman being another...just got to make it happen for yourself.
    as far as work is concerned yes there is jobs in the DOD realm but not much on the FAA civilian realm...

    rc engines are not axial flow like the picture above. they are centrifugal flow..i myself do not know much about centrifugal flow engines but that they are easier to maintain and run.

    there is one true axial flow 5 stage rc engine. goggle it. i believe jaguar is using it as a generator for there new hybrid design car.

    OP, how did you get involved in working on Predetors? Im currently USAF hydraulics specialist. Have 3 years left on my second contract and undecided about staying in. Wouldnt mind finding out what the civilain world has to offer.
