I would be amazed if you are even called to serve Jury Duty.

    Don't be

My Cpl got picked...he lives outside of our jurisdiction...and got called where he lives and they chose him to sit on a jury because it was magistrate level and the defense had already used their strikes

I was called twice while I was in college, and then not called again for like 3 years...then got called for Fed Jury which I got out of due to being LEO and then last year got called to local and got out of it

I would think that the defense team would not let you serve just because you are a LEO.

I think i would have to vote you off the bus for that reason.

I have served once and it was an interesting adventure to say the least.

With the federal level stuff, you have to fill out a packet of questions beforehand and then call a telephone number to see if you have to show up

I was struck before even showing up

I was called by the county.

the judge seemed like a great guy. He had pointed out the differences in traffic due to the time of day we needed to be there for the second day. He reminded us to be on time. The jury was there on time and he thanked us for that before resuming the trial.

Both the proscution and defense attorneys were sort of like frick and frack go to court. He had to remind them both multipable times on how to act in his court.

It never ceases to amaze me that people won't keep their cool when in court

I got on a jury once, the guy was trying to get money for a back injury. It was a police officer who was suing a local youth YMCA for having ice in the parking lot. The officer parked his personal car right under a no parking sign at the YMCA and slipped on the ice. The YMCA was next door to the police station. He was looking for $50,000 from the YMCA. Seemed like a waste of the court systems time to me, also made the officer look kind of silly. He didn't get any money.

In fact, I have a jury case next week

I'm hoping we can get it resolved before court...because quite frankly I hate trying a case in front of a jury
Bench trials are sooo much easier

I can just testify to what I saw and be done...I have to call witnesses and cross examine shit in a jury trial because instead of making a judge believe me over a dirtbag...i have to convince 6 (magistrate level) people like keith who DONT want to be there that I'm right and dirtbag is wrong...ugh...

I've actually never had one go to trial in almost 5 years

They almost always get worked out before having to pick a jury

This one however...dude rammed his car thru an automatic gate at an apt complex to gain entry to continue an argument with his baby mama...2 officers witnessed the incident and chased him to me at her apt...i arrested him as he pulled up

He's requested a jury trial because he believes the amount of damage is wrong and he doesnt want to pay the $500 it cost the apartment complex to fix the gate
