Lift: Vibration @ 25mph/55mph

Hello all. I have had my lift in my tacoma now for 10k miles, best thing I could ever do for it!

Two problems: horrible shaking in the truck at deceleration @ 25mph, and vibration at 55mph on highway. Sometimes my front right shock squeaks and makes funny noises when the vibrating is happening, kind of like a tapping noise. Not sure whats going on.

and deceleration could be a bad brake line OR a bad rotor.

 

Those both should be the rear axle vibe from lifting. I had vibes around 20mph, then I put in a 2* shims under the leaves and now I get a vibe at 10-15mph. My next thing will be CB drop. Had a vibe around 60mph then after the shims it went away. Trial and error.

 

Thank you, I was not sure if It was the lift itself. Defiantly a rougher ride, but I dont drive at those speeds much. I do have the shim drop via toytec. Thanks for the sticky, seems like I am not the only one with this issue!

 

Did you put on a swaybar relocation bracket? The squeak/tap up front could be the coilover coming into contact with the swaybar.

 

Also check how tight the fasteners are on your suspension. I had a squeaky tappy noise from my front end. It ended up being the nut on the strut rod being loose. I tightend it til it got real tough to turn and never heard the squeak/tap again. Check your torque specs.

 

Hi, new member here. read hundreds of posts regarding vibration. got a toytec lift, 1.5 block in rear, coil spacer in front etc.........diff drop etc..... vibrated the second i drove out of the shop!! went back, talked to the installers and double checked everything. I t does not happen to everybody, but it happens to ALOT of us. Bottom line, the cv's are pulled out just enough of the diff to cause the vibration, because they are now at a slight different angle which in turn shortens them up just enough to cause this problem. The vibration is in the front diff is where it coming from, not the rear driveline angle o anywhere else. there is NO FIX!!!!! Only fix is to take it off and and go back to stock. I know alot of people are going to reply and call bullshit on this. I REALLY wanted to keep this setup because it looked awesome, reality is it just did not work in my truck and by reading many other posts it did not work in alot of other guys trucks. I know the truth hurts, only fix is removal, or a different designed kit .

After that, read that entire thread. There is a fix now. Before it was going back to stock or getting an ARB diff.

Its really easy to determine if it is the front or the rear. Take out your rear driveline and put it in 4Hi go for a drive if the vibration is gone it is in the rear, and curslt who told you that? The shop who did the lift I think they just wanted you to go away, Toyota has a very poorly designed rear driveline look up the driveline basics so you can better understand what is going on, once you are armed with that information you can come up with a solution. I just lifted my 12 DCSB and have the vibes and am in the process of fixing it once I get that done I will make a post on my solution if it works. And by the way I determined it was the rear by removing the driveline and putting it in 4hi and no there is no danger of ruining anything if you are careful about driving it, in fact the one TSB about the 20mph vibe explicitly says to do this to make sure it is in the rear driveline.

 

Hhaha it was the nut on the strut being loose. Still vibrates, going to get a beefed taco drop kit. Thank's for the help so far!

 

Take out rear driveline and put in 4hi and if vibration goes away it is in the rear driveline???????? no its not, front diff just like I said, reason vibe goes away in 4 hi is it is under a load. You are like all the other guys that do not want to accept the truth. bad cv angle causes the vibe. these east coast guys have a handle on a solution. keep reading ALL the posts and educate yourself, it will save you time and money and headache

Wow curslt you need to go back to school and learn to read just like Texoma. The east coast guys don't have a handle on anything so go back to your mommas basement and play your xbox and let the adults handle it. The TSB on the driveline vibe explicitly states to do this procedure to determine where the vibes are coming from READ IT. There is no problem with doing this procedure it will give you some valuable troubleshooting information. Now if you are uncomfortable doing this I understand by all means take it to a professional and he will do what I said because it is the easiest way to troubleshoot it. As far as the CV angles go I have lifted several Taco's and the only one with vibe issues has been the DC because of the way the driveline is built, now are all the problems the same no thats why you TROUBLESHOOT it and removing the driveline is one technique that you can easily do at home without paying someone.

 

Do with your truck as you please, because you're just a professional.
