Hey, im a complete noob when it comes to this stuff. I know my way around the truck pretty well mechanically, but im totally lost in the electronics department. So bare with me when I try to describe this. Thanks in advance.

Im looking to get some subs or sub for my 1st gen xtra cab. It will go behind the driver seat. I would like it to only take up the driver side rear seat. I would like to be able to still fit one passenger on the pass side. Im not sure if I should go with 2 10s or 1 12. Im not looking to spend a lot of money, 500-600 max, so I was thinking a pre-built box would help cut down on the price. If anyone could point me in the right direction for a sub, box, and amp combination I would really appreciate it. I listen to a little bit of everything, just depends on what kind of mood im in. I would like to be able to turn it totally off if I wanted to listen to country or something, but then turn it up loud easily if I wanted to listen to rap. Thanks for the help.

This dude's shit is pretty sick.

If you have some kind of wood working knowlage you can build you a decent box for about $30 and have some wood left over for 2 boxes. Crutchfield has a pretty nice sub set up for $350 you can go with 12's or 10's you just need to measure to make sure that you have the room.

Best Buy at Christmas time had a sale buy a Polk 12" sub and get a prefab ported box for free. I bought 4 of them. The box is perfect if you just want to take up 1 jump seat.

My son had 3 of them in his truck but, took 1 out. If you want me to tommorow, I will find you the link for the box. I don't know if they will have another sale but, the price couldn't be beat.

Never mind this is the box: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Fierce+...sure/9853887.p?id=1218186321886&skuId=9853887

I can take pictures, if you want them.

I also have a JL Audio stealth box 10" that I could sale you too. It is grey. It goes between the jump seats.

I just bought 2 12'' Kenwood KFC w3012 subs. Bought them used from a buddy at school and got a decent deal. But now, I am having trouble finding a box. I read a few places to go with a ported box with these subs but all the ported boxes I have seen are to big. I only want to take up one jump seat so anything over 29'' wont work. It starts to get into the next jumpseat after 29''. Could anyone help me out with a box? Does it necessarily have to be ported? I have found a couple sealed boxes that would fit but not sure if I should try to get a ported one or not. Thanks.

A ported box will be louder and more efficient, can do more with the power you put to it, but a little bit sloppier bass whereas a sealed box is tighter and not as loud or efficient. In an Xcab though I don't thing it will make much difference because 2 12's in that small of a truck will bump hard no matter what box you've got as long as it is within specs.

Thanks, would this be the specs for the box I need to be looking for?

If you want to build on like that then yes that would be fine but you can make the box however you like as long as it has 1.25^3 of air space per sub. You can cheat a little bit by making it a bit smaller and filling it with polyfil, stuff they put in pillows you can buy it at walmart for $5 for a big bag, but how much I'm not sure of.

    Thanks for the help.

How does this box look? Its 1.21 cubic feet so its a little on the smaller side. But i could add a little polyfil like you were saying and it would work?

You will probably be fine with that.
A little reading tells me that for every pound of polyfill the sub will think that it has about 30% more airspace so I'd just put in a few handfuls.
