Well obviously. TX package is nothing but an exhaust tip and graphics. And rice rocket wheels. But just because there is something comparatively gayer doesn't mean hood scoops are sweet. Are you also into spoilers and ghost flames?

I kinda doubt they would refresh the 2012 and then bring out a gen 3 the following year. Typically refreshes mean the halfway point of the generation, that's pretty unlikely since the current generation is already 7 years in.

The 1st gen was a 10 year run, if the 2nd gen follows suit, the 3rd gen will appear for model year 2015.

The Tundra is on the plate now for Toyota. They are working on hard on the revision for 2014. They need to get more competitive in the fullsize segments and that is where all their energy is focused at the moment. Until that is complete, they won't even bother with the Tacoma--it leads the segment.

A 3rd generation Tacoma won't be out until after the Tundra update and this will be, at minimum, 2015--probably more like 2016/17.

If that is actually what it will look like I'm glad I snagged a 2012. I like the looks of mine much better. The 2013 is too boxy. IMO.

I have a 2010 and love it! I don't think I would have bought the truck with 2012 styling. They tried too hard to change it IMO.

I think the new 4runner is butt ugly. And I mean that in the worst way.
Looks like theyre trying to go old school japanese styling with it.:(

^ I think that was the intent, actually. Check out some of the older Land Cruisers - they all had lights sticking out of the corners.

I think we're good for another couple years, though do you think they would introduce some powertrain changes without major styling changes?

If that is what the new Tacoma looks like, I would be okay with it.
My perfect Tacoma would be a regular cab, 4x4, auto or manual, with a turbo diesel!

With the Tundra, they need to make one with a diesel engine in it to compete with the Big 3. That is the only thing stopping me as of right now for eventually buying a Tundra. No diesel option.

As for a Gen 3 Tacoma, I won't get one unless some major things are changed. Rear disc brakes for one. I still can't believe Toyota has not done this. On the next gen Tacoma I would also like to see a manual transfer case and locking hubs like they had on the 1st gen and earlier models. I would also like to see them add an info center in their engine cluster that gives avg. mpg, avg. speed, miles to empty etc. like they have on my wifes Corolla. If those things aren't added, I won't even bother buying another Tacoma. I would also like to see a V-8 and diesel option for the Gen 3 Tacoma but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Found out about the 2013, as I was ready to purchase a 2012 prerunner. 2012 was then a no go just in time. Hope the 3rd gen[2013] looks as good as the photoshopped 4runner. Looking forward to 4 wheel disks, rear coils, sunroof, katzin leather, FJ paint opptions[tan, B.R.G., maroon, the non metalics, I know.... dont hold my breath.
