Wife and kids gave me the Kindle Fire for Christmas and I love it. Can surf the web via wifi. Am on my 12th book. Wife says if I don't slow down reading she will take it away from me.

Damn, us gracefully aging baby boomers are adaptive. From the first black and white T.V.s to transistor radios, to VCR's to CD's to computers, to laptops, to iphones to readers and everything else in between! I still value more the times we spent outdoors, bikes, wiffle ball, baseball and everything else.

My daughter bought me a Kindle Fire for Christmas. I'm am avid reader (1-2 books a week) but I really didn't think I'd like it.

But I DO! I really love it. In addition to reading, I can do email, browse the web, play music, and there are hundreds of great apps.

Looks nice for the times when I haul 12ft length lumber. Looks like it will hold landscaping timbers as well.

I do not have a hitch.

I need to keep my eyes open for a deal on a hitch.

U-Haul is a good place to pick-up a hitch. That's where I bought mine. Wasn't very expensive and my son and I installed it in about an hour. FWIW--Rob

Morning everyone!! Been a busy few days so Ihaven't been aroundmuch. Lynn is in Florida for a memorial celebration for her brother at the University of Florida. I've been taking care of her parents and my mom and trying to get some work done on my dissertation.

I bought Lynn a Kindle last April for her birthday. She absolutely loves it - probably read 40 books as opposed to 3 or 4 a year before the Kindle. She can take it anywhere and just read a few pages if she has some down time.

I need to put a hitch on my truck this spring - hadn't thought of looking at U-Haul for a used one. Do they seel nationlly, Rob, or did you just go to the local rental place?

I bought this extender last year. Like it a lot and it folds down nicely against the tailgate so I always have it available.

In Alaska they sell hitches as well as rent trailers and trucks. They've had the best prices in the two times I've bought hitches. They sell new hitches.--Rob

I like the bed extender Mark. Stores out of the way.

Just finished migrating data and settings from older PC to new PC. Swapped out the PC's and tested. So far so good. The real test will be when the son and wife get home and need to use the PC for school. :)

Started at 10:00 am and finished at 13:00.

Next up is upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 on the older PC. Starting that now.

I like that bed extender, especially the way it folds up. Getting ready to put a regular OEM one on my truck.

Morning All...beautiful day yesterday:D(even though I was at work)...

thats a reall nice Bed extender Mark...Like the way it folds up flat against the tailgate...whose the manufacturer???

Good luck with the computer update Tom:pccoffee:...I'll stick with XP for a while longer...didn't like Vista:eek: at all and still leary about 7:rolleyes:...you'd think after all the years they have been producing operating systems they could put one out on the market that was reliable and user friendly...my biggest b*%#h is some programs are not compatible with this operating system or the other so now you have to get the newest version of that program:mad:...

I feel your pain Carl...I was in the basement and had a leak in the Aprilaire humidifier line that runs up to the top of the water panel:eek:...turned the water to it off and went to the local United Refridge and got a new line set-up for it...installed it yesterday after work and all is now good again...I dislike plumbing almost as much as painting:rant:...Ken

I was a diehard XP fan for many years as well. However, you might want to try Windows 7. It has a few quirks, but is not bad overall. All of my XP programs installed without major problems, including Office 2003. Windows 7 also has "compatibility" options for each program (right-click on the program icon), allowing even more XP programs to work properly. Of course, WinXP device drivers will not work, but I was able to find Win7 drivers for all my devices (printers, cameras, GPS, etc).

Most XP users will want to turn on "Always show menus" in "Folder Options" and stick with IE8 (IE9+ drops the menus entirely). If IE9 is already installed on your new computer, try uninstalling it in "View Installed Updates" under "Programs & Features." Doing so will automatically reinstall IE8. It will also trigger an attempt to reinstall IE9 in "Windows Update." Turn on "let me choose" in "Windows Update" settings and then hide the update when it appears (won't see it again, until the next IE version update).

Finally, you'll also likely want to avoid the "libraries" folders shown to the left in each folder window since they act very differently than XP folders. Instead, search and find your "My Documents," "My Pictures," and similar folders (which act similar to XP folders) and save each as "Favorites" in the same area as the libraries folders.
