you'll be good to go for most trails <6 with your setup...do you have a locker?

there'll be many rigs that you can roll with out there...when you get there, play around in BFE and get an idea about what you're comfortable with and make decisions based off that and who will be running what trails..

Nope no locker :(. I plan on having full skids though so that should help. Hmm I just might have to go out there.

Holy crap, way too much anxiety, whining, and worry over who's truck is capable of what. For you Moab first timers, just come have a good time and quit worrying about what you can or can't do. You'll be amazed and it will be a blast. There will be enough experienced people there that if you show up to run a trail and it's over your head, someone will probably say something. For instance, if I were leading Pritchett Canyon (which I'm not) and m3bassman were to show up in his truck to run it, I would politely suggest he look for a different trail option. Not only would it probably thrash his truck, but the struggles he would have would affect the entire group in a negative way.

Now that being said, I have no problem with people wanting to push their limits. Take Golden Spike. If I were leading that trail (which is possible) and m3bassman were to show up to run it, I'd think cool, this kids got balls. There would be some challenges for sure and I know it would push the limits of his truck in its current setup. But we'll still get him through the trail, even if it means taking a strap in a couple spots. No biggie. And frankly m3bassman would probably do better on GS that Blackdawg without a locker. ;) Just saying. But either one of you could run if you choose.

Bottom line is bring what you got and have fun with it. Relax.

Sorry just asking an honest question. I have wheeled with people (I am not going to name names) that say "You got skids, or a locker, or etc" and I say no I don't and their response is "Well fuck it you got this" and after taking that line I say to myself "That was incredibly stupid thanks for your awesome advice". But you are right I shouldn't let what I can't do limit or scare me. It is good to know that there will be people there that will tell me not to take certain lines or trails.

No apology necessary. Frankly I have very little patience for people like you describe. I'm very selective about who I wheel with. In my mind there is no reason to ever be a d-bag to anyone because of what they have or don't have on their truck or what their experience level is. We all have to start somewhere.

At the same time won't hesitate to bail on a group that is full of dickheads. I don't need to waste my time with that. I have plenty of people I can wheel with and have a better time and where we look out for each other. This event will be no different for me. I hope and fully expect that we'll have a good group of people that will just come have a good time. If it's not that way, I won't be participating in the future. Just not worth it to me.

I have no problem with some friendly trash talk. :) But really, who cares what I think? Just don't be dicks and respect others that you're with and everything's cool as far as I'm concerned.

Sounds good. Don't think that just because I have a snorkel that I actually "Like" to play in the water. It's purely for insurance. :)

with such a large group, we're definitely rolling the dice hoping for the best hand of wheelers.

key is to get out there an enjoy yourselves and don't ruin it for others...

and back to the old saying, if you don't have anything nice to say (or useful) then don't say it

    x2 haha

Sometimes it's easier to bail when you're NOT the leader. Lots of times the d-bags aren't that smart and just keep following you.

I appreciate the thought. Just because I'm 'local' and have been to Moab a few times doesn't make me an expert. ;) I can get around just fine, and I'm always happy to lend a hand. I hope everyone coming feels comfortable saying hello to me and asking for help if they need it. I might not be able to give the help necessary but I'll help you find it if I can't do it myself.

ps. nobody needs to be in my good graces. We're all there to have fun together.

Sweet. I would prefer to wheel with people like you. I am pretty inexperienced when it comes to wheeling and I am constantly leaning and asking questions. For now I plan to attend this meet and I will probably camp because it is cheaper  not to mention how much it is going to cost me in gas to get there

Is there another thread or a link that I need to read over on what gear I need to bring? Like spare gas cans etc.
