Ahh, that follows the logic in the WWZ and Day2Day Aremegeddon books. I think that lone walker had a few meanings. What you say above, Shane breaking away, etc. etc. But that is a solid point. They are running out of food in the cities. I think either Rick or Daryl mentioned that possibility in Season 1 as well.

Hang on to your sippie cups!

If you've read those books by Brooks and Bourne, you will really enjoy the Dead series by Joe McKinney. The Dead series is, Dead City, Apocalypse of the Dead, and Flesh Eaters. McKinney has been my favorite author in the genre, and that was after reading WWZ, Day to Day Armageddon, and Beyond Exile. I highly recommend McKinney's books!

Actually, I heard the same thing from a buddy of mine. I picked up Dead City on my Kindle and can't wait to start reading it! Hopefully next week. Just wrapped up Beyond Exile. I understand the third Bourne book will be out this August.

Yet there were already walkers around the farm. It seems very unlikely to me that that farm remained ignored/missed this long. They take a walk searching for the lost kid and start running into them pretty quick?

Still not clear what drives the walkers, they certainly were free to get out of the building before shane threwe the wrench through the window, what where they doing milling inside?

I say head for north dakota (not canada) and plan for a cold winter free of walkers.

All the walkers they came across during the early part of the season were probably either from the "herd" coming through, or are wanders from the highway. IIRC, they were all casually dressed as well. I don't remember any wearing business suits.

You never know, they may be driven by sound and smell. So if it's calm they'll chill and reserve whatever fuel it is that makes them go....like zombie hybernation. This would explain why they move in heards, the sound of other walkers lures more in and they just loaf around like lemmings.

I can't wait for that as well!!! I just wish Brooks would write another novel too. I think he is spending most of the time with the WWZ movie.

I still wanna know why there were dead people in their cars on the highway .

What killed them in their cars , why didn't they get eaten or turn into walkers ?

Meryl will definitely be back. I am just wondering how and what will happen when he DOES. Fight? Try to kill Rick for leaving him on the roof?

But Rick wasn't the one who left him. It was T-Dog that dropped the key down the drainage tube and then left him.

Best responses I could find, they probably died of starvation or dehydration. I have to watch that episode where they experienced their first "walker migration" on the highway to see if there were bite marks on the bodies or not.

I've wondered that too. Not all of the cars have people in them, so obviously some folks, stuck in the traffic jam decided to get out and hump it.

Maybe the ones that stayed in their cars died of heat stroke or hunger trapped in their car by a zombie herd? Or maybe they decided to 'check out' of the situation? And still others may be zombies and just haven't come to yet?

Another idea is that a zombie would become trapped in the cars because they are not smart enough to know to unbuckle his/her seat belt....so maybe they eventually die as a zombie when there is not sufficient substanance for the the virus to live, or after the sun bakes the remaining brains to dust after many months trapped in a car?

Why would you sit in your car till you starved to death?

Besides didn't the group scavenge food from the cars ?

And if they were bit , why aren't they walkers ?

Or it could simply be a situation where the gov't decided they didn't want this shit to spread so they gassed all the folks trying to leave the city. They died trapped in their cars as planes aerosoled them with rycine or something??

The walker that Daryl found that had hung himself was a walker and couldn't have possibly fed like that
