When you bend the tabs on the relays do they still fit pretty snug back in I know they are probably not flush... ^^ btw looks good.

I did this the other day on my '12. The relays no longer fit flush, but they are still secure in the box. The biggest issue is where you tap into the trailer light relay. I'm not real happy with how I had to do that, but it seems secure, and works the lights as advertised.

stupid question but what is the purpose of the trailer light relay? I had a hitch and trailer lights installed yesterday (the 4 pin ones) but they didn't put a trailer light relay in or anything just installed the 4 pin wiring harness and all works fine with trailer lights. I would just hate to install that relay and F up everything I had installed.

I would say your installer most likely just tapped into the wires going to your tail lights. The factory trailer light wires are sepperated from the trucks taillights by the towing relay.

MY relays fit back in fine, i dont really like how its tapped into the tailer relay but the box is covered and doubt any water or mud would get in, I plugged my new piaa drive lights into the same relay everything still works fine! Thanks!

    REDTRD--

The installer most likely used his own wiring harness and like previously posted spliced/tapped your tail-light wiring for running light/brake/turn signals...the relay should not cause any issues with what you had installed--OLY

I have no relay in my" towing tail" plug...... And so was told my truck is most likely not wired for it. Is there another way to do this mod with another relay, that will still turn off my fog lights with the key / ignition?

Thanks for the help guys. lol

Got it done! Took me about 2 hours...... Cause I don't live in town and had to make 3 trips for different parts. Once I had all the stuff I needed it literally took me 3 mins to strip the wire and plug it in!

    I used:
    (1) Female weather proof 16ga.-14ga. Conector $5.99
    (1) 10" 16ga wire $5.99
    (1) 30A fuse for the trailer tail light $2.09
    (1) Trailer tail Relay $12.99
    (2-5) Gallon of gas $3.63

Love the lights!!! Gona go out tonight and try them out, and I'll take some pics!

Sorry just saw this. I live in Lindale, work in Tyler.
Yeah I'm Soo happy with my truck! 2 years newer, 10k miles less than my 03 had, and got it well below NADA Value..... Actually even a good bit below what my insurance paid out for my old truck!!

I did my 2009 and it worked just fine. Not sure if my tow package was on there from factory (bought it used) but I assume that it is.

    Thanks OP!

I went back through some of the awesome mods that I been wanting to do to my 2008 Tacoma and found a work around mod with no cutting of wires, no splicing into any existing wires or anything like that. The link that enplanes in detail with pics. I took me about 10 mins to complete.

I just this did, however, the DtRL doesn't turn on anymore and the fog lights will only turn on with parking lights, low beam, and high beam. The fog lights and the DTRL doesn't turn on. Anyone has this problems and any advise?

OK, I have a 2012 and it immediately irritated me that that the fogs go out with the high beam! So I understand the need for a mod.

What I don't understand is: under what circumstances would you want to use the fogs without the marker or DTRL on?

In my old rig, under severe fog, i have rarely driven with just PIAA fogs and marker lights (not legal). I would be interested in converting the DTRL from yellow to white so that essentially i would have "low power" headlights and probably be legal.
