i think im subscribed to every thread ive commented in since i joined like 4 years ago...haha

I'd say take the Florida non resident CCW class. its only a 3 - 4 hour class and is good for 7 years instead of only 4 years. it can be renewed by mail rather than having to take another 6 hour class.

Any of you Houston guys ever deal with 4wheelparts on the south loop? They quoted me at $790 for a pro-comp 3 inch lift installed. The guy said i could use my factory rear shocks with this set up. Does this sound about right/a good deal?

They are good for somethings (like ordering ARB bumpers and having them delivered to the store for pickup).. but no, buyer beware

$790 seems really high for a simple 3" lift and it not including rear shocks.
There are a lot of lift options out there but do a little looking and decide what you need the lift to do. The complete OME set up was about $1000 and included shocks, coils and Dakar leafs. The install is very straight forward and can be done on your own.

Wow..after reading some of that shit I definatly wont be going there. Looks like the dealer will be my best bet...but they want like $800 for a spacer/block lift.

:smack: Spacer block lifts are horrible too, might as well as get the pro-comp. If you love your ride, then get OME or Toytec. I had OME, traded in and have a spacer and AAL now... hate the spacer and the AAL is meh.

I thought it was a little suspect to not include rear shocks. I really only need to clear bigger tires, I dont plan on doing much offroad driving besides the beach or fishing hole.

$800 for a spacer block lift!?!?!?!?
That is crazy high. It's $200ish for parts and 2 hours labor for an experienced mechanic.

Hmmm...that is tempting. I would much rather do it than pay them. That way I would know a little more about it.

Yeah I know man...the only reason Im considering the dealership is so it is all under warranty. I just cant justify that price hike right now. If I had the know how and a garage I probably would have done it myself by now! lol

Maybe the Houston meet will turn into a wrench meet and you'll have the chance to install the lift you want?

It's really easy to install a lift. I tackled mine last year and had no prior experience doing ANYTHING with suspensions.
You can install a lift and there should be enough Houston members to lend a hand or a driveway.

THIS!!! bassfan just did his at the DFW wrench meet (2012 taco) and it was pretty smooth. the only thing that ate up more time was the spring compressor stuff because they weren't pre-assembled.
