    They don't measure the fuel by weight , the weight aspect comes into play because there is a maximum and minimum weight the cars must be at the start and finish of the GP .

    They actually start the race with not enough fuel to finish the race at full throttle , this is why you hear that they are in a fuel saving phase of the GP , the drivers can turn down the engine mode from inside the cockpit

    Thanks for the info, I'm really liking the racing. Excited for the season to start.

    The only thing I'm not sure about is it really seems that 3-5 drivers dominate and the rest of the field is just there for show. Vettel, Weber, Alonso, Hamilton, Button. Those guys seem to be 1-5 in every race and by a large margin, just a different order. Nascar seems to have nailed this, 15-25 drivers can win any Sunday.

    Why the disparity? Is it truly driver performance or is ie: Team India just not competitive? Are the cars actually worse?

    Red Bull , McLaren and Ferrari are the fastest cars , the rest are mid pack and back of the pack

    F1 rules allow for a wider interpretation of the rules than the NASCAR cars , hence the performance differences between cars . There is currently also very limited testing allowed .
