Locking Hubs?

I have a 01 tacoma and was looking to put lockin hubs on it. I havent found anything online where you could buy them. unless you have the 95.5-99. I searched on here but didnt find anything. is it not possible to put them on this year truck??

 

I think it is but you would have to get rid of all the auto locking diff. things

well my dad put warn premium lockin hubs on my 94 pickup. and wouldnt that truck also have auto locking too?

 

Thats a pickup. i dont think they had the ADD untill the Tacoma came out (1995.5)

 

So the ADD means that the cv half shafts arent spinnin when in 2wd? so basically like lockin hubs but you dont have to jump out and lock em?

 

sort of. its kinda complicated and im not an expert on it. it stands for Auto Disconecting Differental IIRC. some will chime in here to confirm im sure

i think you can swap them. but you cant run hub lockers with the ADD. hub lockers are better IMO because the front drive train isnt spinning (less wear, better MPG)

i know this is off topic but you have the billies on your truck right? my buddy is gonna give me his spacer from his 01 tacoma to put on mine since he sold his. should i just wait and save up for the billies or put the spacer on and then save up and put the billies on later

 

My 2000 had manual hubs. I really miss having them now.

 

dont put the spacer on. save up for the billies to do it the right way the first time

Manual hubs are possible on your truck. I had them added to my 02 4Runner. I don't really have any more information other than it's possible because I don't know anything about how that stuff works.



I'm pretty sure my ADD is disabled now, as it's not needed with the manual hubs.

 

I bought a toytec spacer lift kit for $50 just to get the AAL. What does that tell you?
